The dealer says a "slipping" transmission is not too serious. It should go away with good wear and tear! I may be a little naive, but I'm not stupid. I went to another dealer and sure enough, they will repair the problem under warranty. Pays to get second opinion.

Car relatively problem free.. ALL highway driving the last thing I would think about failing on a modern car would be the transmission!! A few months ago I noticed a small drop in fuel mileage and a strange "wining" noise on gentle acceleration..
A month or so ago it would take 5-10 secs to go into gear when cold in the morning.. Just heard from the dealer that the entire transmission is being replaced under warranty.
Some other details:
All highway driving, trans fluid changed whenever the lights said to change with genuine Honda CV-1 fluid at $9/qt.. All maint done when needed..
I don't think I'll ever buy another Honda.. My first was an old 72 CVCC Civic that was a great car until the head gasket went at 74k and cost me $1,500 (back in 1978 that was a lot of money for a kid) This car was OK, but was outstanding in it's lack of features to like.. Fuel mileage is good but not enough to warrant the cost of the car plus the need for an extended warranty to cover for an engineering defect.. Well they finally have a complaint.. Shame on them for this travesty of engineering..
