IMA system not working properly IMA system not working properly

Bought the Hybrid from Ed Voyle's Honda in Atlanta, GA.

The IMA light came on during my first weekend trip with the car. The powertrain went into failsafe mode and gave about 25% of its original power, while I was going uphill... it eventually started coasting backwards downhill... only slightly dangerous....

I returned it to the dealer ( Ed Voyle's) and they updated the ECU software and cleared the code.

A few months of daily recallibrations some just miles apart and my car had a new code P0A7F serious battery deterioration.

A dealer closer to home (Carl Gregory Honda Columbus, GA) offered to replace it at half the original cost $(3500) for $1700. I accepted the deal, got a new battery and have had no problems for the last 8000 miles.

Civic Hybrid 1.3L 4-cyl

  • Automatic transmission

Second failure of IMA system, was asked by dealership to initially replace the car battery, even though it tested good, to eliminate that as a possible cause of error, at a cost of $99.95 to me. Battery replaced, problem persisted. Dealership finally replaced the IMA motor control module and additional misc parts. Still no improvement in MPG and I still believe that the IMA is not working as it should.

Spoke with HONDA Customer Care regarding IMA issues and poor MPG. Nothing can be done until IMA failure occurs. According to the Customer Care Agent, it would appear that the IMA is not holding a charge, but nothing can be done until a definitive failure happens and error codes are generated.
