Few month ago bought a 2010 civic hybrid from a female who is the only owner, car had 38000 miles on it, lady claimed she was getting around 32 mpg city. Drove the car for few weeks I could not get more then 20mpg on average as low as 17 mpg ( 2010 hybrid 4 cylinders not kidding.....my 8cylinder suv that weighs 2.5 this car does close to that....anyway took to dealer for oil change and to check the hybrid....they said they can't check the ima no warning light.....but they can inspect the fuel trim (ps never heard of fuel trim that will cut the mpg to half what Honda claim) . Guess what they claim they check the car and everything as per factory spec. P.s. How can a 2010 4cyl hybrid consume that much fuel. They said maybe the way I drive....I told them that I drove like a 99 year old for a week and like a race car driver for a week and a normal driver for another week and I still got the same crap mpg as low as 17mpg and as high as 22mpg city.....p.s. And this car is certified as a green car low emission/consumption in my state NY and have the green stickers. So please who ever have the same issue please contact me so we can have a case with Honda and our local state agency and even the media we need the media on this.....17-22mpg city and Honda claim 40mpg.how can a car like that be certified as a green vehicle when a v8 suv does same mileage. Specially with a car that's 6years old well maintained with 38k miles...basically a new car.......? Let's put the word out there guys maybe Honda will step up and fix it? I be they will turn out like VW mpg scam. A friend of mine have a none hybrid and he average 24mpg and my hybrid does less ....the hybrid battery must be the problem and I read plenty where guys complain and Honda updated soft where where mileage dropped...so they don't have to replace these batter under the warranty.....class action law suite made them extend the warranty ...but all they do is say no the IMA light not on then there is no problem and if it's on they would just erase the code and claim tow update the software with out making comen sense and looking at the mpg. Even the mechanic that took the car from me he said it sounds like the battery issue...but the bosses Honda service manger/advisor say no....they didn't even mention hybrid issue on my work order they mention fuel trim...female advisor...I say battery she says no must be fuel trim....and so on. So please guys lets get media case on this if some of u out there....unless I am the only one out here that got stock with one bad lemon(1 previous female owner, well maintained, 38k miles. 2010 civic hybrid that's certified as a green car in New York and like 40+ other state). I see that there was a lawsuit in both small court and in class action for this problem . The hybrid does not get the miles per gallon honda claims. In the city I get about 35 miles per gallon. I had Honda look at the car and they said it all checks out. My kia soul 2012 gets the same miles per gallon as this car does in the city and they had a recall on its mile per gallon in that model. If so many people are saying the same thing why must we have to all go through the lawsuits just to get this fixed . Just fix it and be a respectable company . You want to be the number one car company and be the best ,then stand behind you product and fix the problems your car has . Honda never used to cut corners before. now it seems like they are.
