problem #1

Nov 012016

Crosstour EX-L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 47,000 miles

My car started having a noticeable whine at low speeds. Finally had a day off to take it in after I diagnosed it using someone's YouTube video of the exact same whining noise. Honda service called me to say they had diagnosed the problem and that it was covered under the warranty. 20 minutes later Honda service called me to say that Oopsy! it wasn't really covered, but that they feel really bad about it because it is not yet three years old and have asked Honda corporate for a goodwill something-or-other and all I will have to pay is a 'deductible' of $89. Now that's a random number. I will go pick it up tomorrow and will update if any more noteworthy news.

Update from Dec 29, 2016: Steering rack replaced with remanufactured part that turned out to also be bad. In the end, I had the steering rack replaced twice in two weeks. This actually says more about the service center than the car. Car is now fixed.
