fake leather tearing on center console lid

First off, I know most will ask me this. I have never left my sunroof open to heat it up and I always had a sunshade in my front window. One day when I took a trip to Vegas, it was really hot as it was summer. Naturally everything was super hot in the car, but little did I expect to have a piece of the fake leather glue to my arm from the center console lid. This was absolutely frustrating since at the time I had only had the car for about a year and a half or so. At first, it wasn't that bad, but over time, it kept getting worse and worse.

The lid looks absolutely terrible now since the glue tends to kind of let go of the top later and you can move it around when it's hot. I tried checking to see how much this would be to replace it and the dealer told me that I would have to purchase the whole center console to replace it. He told me the part would be $350 for the part and depending on how long it took would charge me more to fix it. Apparently this seems to be a known issue in a lot of Hondas and I am quite annoyed since the issue does not exist in my 2006 Accord.
