problem #2

May 012010

Element EX 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 184,000 miles

the problem started with the element wanting to die when I came to a stop at stop sign or red light. Took it to a mechanic cause someone suggested that my exhaust valves may need to be adjusted. At the time, there were codes for all cylinders misfiring. When I picked up the car the codes were not coming up and car was running fine. In just one day the codes returned and now the car wasnt dying at stops, but my car started to shake like a timing problem or a cylinder not working. disconnected one cylinder at time and found out that cylinder #2 is not having any compression. A honda dealer in frisco charged me 100 dollars and 3 hours later said the same thing, yup no compression from cylinder #2. The cost to get to the bottom of problem: 600 to open the engine and 600 dollars to put it back together. That's not actually fixing it, just to find out what it could be. never took it back to the dealer. Dont know what to do.
