problem #2

Element EX-P

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,800 miles

This car has been very reliant and dependable, but about 6 months ago this problem began and nobody seems to have any idea what is causing the problem. It has been to 3 different auto repair shops and also to Honda. None have been able to re-create the problem, but it happens to me almost daily now. So, yesterday I made a video of my dash as I started my day, which is when this problem mostly occurs. The engine just stops, and many times it is rough to start again. I want to keep the car as it is a good car, but not too reliant lately. I am looking to see if anyone else has had this problem.

Update from Jul 27, 2018: Finally took it to someone who knew how an engine worked and not what the computer told him. It turns out that the valves needed adjusting. A simple $200 fix and the car runs great again. I hope that this helps all you oher Element owners.

Element LX 4 cyl 4wd

  • Manual transmission
  • 110,000 miles

I purchased a Honda believing it would be a reliable vehicle for at 150,000-175,000 miles. I've had nothing but trouble with this vehicle since 100,000 miles, beginning with needing a valve job on an engine that was barely over 100,000 miles to now it uses excessive oil (down 1.5 qts in 2 weeks)!
