I was washing my car and noticed spots on the hood that didn't come out. I took it to the dealer who told me it was bird poop. As I told them I have never have had a car that had a paint problem with bird poop and that I couldn't wash off. A couple of the spots ate through the paint so I ordered touch up paint. I received the touch up paint only to find out it doesn't match. Ordered another tube and same thing. Honda knows they have a problem they just are ignoring it. The paint on the vehicle is bad.

Vehicle purchased new in April of 2008, in Oct noticed a spot on the hood that was obviously not a rock chip, then noticed more and more all over vehicle. Hood, roof, right front QP, rear gate. Took it to dealer and was asked to leave so a 'regional rep' could look at it. Rep stated it was 'environmental' in origin and not a factory defect. I was upset and took it to 5 local paint/body shops ALL of whom stated it was a primer issue and was DEF a factory issue. I faxed estimates and the svc mgr stated the regional rep again said no. I contacted Honda America and went thru the hoops only to have the phone rep parrot back the regional reps statement...absolutely no resolution.
I took it back out the the svc director and he asked me to take it around the way to the shop they use for paint...HAHAHAH.. the paint guy only took 3 seconds to tell me it looked like a Honda issue and there was no environment anything ( although both bird poop and tree sap had been mentioned ) that would eat thru the clear coat, paint and to the bare metal on a brand new care in under 6 months.
I realize it is not my dealers direct issue..but I am very close to trading the vehicle on ANYTHING else and to never buy a Honda again.

Despite taking good care of my car these spider like cracks appeared out of nowhere. They are spreading all over the hood of my car and Honda claims no responsibility despite knowing that there have been notable problems with their clear coat. I'm not going to rant because they will not claim responsibility either way. However, I hope more owners come forward with their damage. Its convenient that it appears right after the extension. If I had more wear/miles on my car sooner I'm sure it would have reared its head while covered under warranty. Now I pay the price. I loved Honda. Praised them after the amazing driving experience I've had with my element but now I will think again before recommending them. STOP USING JUNK PAINT/CLEAR COAT
