Takata recall : after servicing our Honda vehicle today, there is a warning not to allow a passenger in the front seat, and they cannot or will not repair/replace the dangerous airbag. Why can they not disable it until they can replace or remove it" how can I use this auto for my family if it's dangerous"

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 Honda Element. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 16V344000 (air bags) and 16V320000 (air bags); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

The contact owns a 2009 Honda Element. The contact stated that while at a stop sign to make a left turn, another vehicle crashed into the rear drivers side panel causing the vehicle to spin around three times in the opposite direction. The air bags deployed with force, metal fragments ejected from the air bag. The contacts glasses came off and a metal fragment pealed the contacts right eye lid causing excessive bleeding. The contact experienced bruises to the face and bruising from the seat belt. A police report was filed. The contact received further medical treatment due to the injuries sustained from the force of the air bags deploying. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop who remedied the body damages and the driver was unable to determine if the air bags were replaced. The vehicle was not inspected by a dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the crash. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 15V320000 (air bags) and 12V436000 (air bags). The approximate failure mileage was 3,260.
