Engine was running rough at idle and would briefly lose power while accelerating. Check engine light kept coming on, then after a few hundred miles would turn itself off. Had multiple mechanics and dealerships look at the problem. Was variously diagnosed as "bad vtec solenoid," "bad O2 sensor," and "bad oil pressure switch." Dealer replaced oil pressure switch, which did not solve the issue. Took it to a different mechanic who diagnosed as bad coil packs. Replaced 2 bad ignition coils and the car runs smooth as silk.

I had my Honda Fit for only 5 years when I started having problems with my engine. My vehicle would literally shake when I was accelerating, especially on the highway. It was really bad while my vehicle was sitting idle at a traffic light or intersection. Once, my engine even stalled out in the middle of traffic. I took my car into an official Honda dealership who told me that it was a misfire in one of the 4 coil packs. They replaced the 1 that was misfiring and told me that the problem was fixed. It was for about a month when the exact same thing happened again. I took it back in and they said that 2 more coil packs had misfired and would need to be replaced. I had them replace those but now my vehicle is running worse than ever. I complained to the official Honda customer service line about how I thought this was a serious safety issue. The representative told me that I was using the wrong brand of gasoline and that was causing the misfires. I told her that didn't make sense but she stuck by her story. The techs at the Honda service center said that it's normal for these coil packs to go bad and should be replaced just like tires. I am so frustrated by my car and with Honda in general. I will never buy another Honda vehicle again.

I checked out the online forums found a solution and fixed the problem myself.
Ebay had a four pack of coils. I bought them and installed them in under a half hour.
