Although the car is 3 years old it only has 18thousand plus mileage. I was at first surprised that this would happen to a Honda car but after reading other complaints about the clutch i guess I could have expected this problem. I hope that something has been done about this problem as it is expensive to fix.

2008 Honda fit-first clutch went @ 32,000 mi, replacement went @ 47,000 mi, counting towing, this has cost me 3 g's. dealer, (Moorehead, Newburgh, NY)who is usually reliable, says that the fault is mine and that wear does not count under warranty. I question if 2 clutches should blow in under 50,00-0 miles even I TRIED, and they say it is the way that I drive. I do hit stop and go traffic regularly, and I am sure that this takes it toll. But, 2 clutches in 47,000 miles, is this even possible without faulty equipment?

On Christmas Eve the car suddenly was very hard to put into gear (5 speed manual transmission). When I got it into a transmission shop, they found that the pressure plate was jamming into the flywheel. Had to have the clutch rebuilt and the flywheel turned to remove the damage. This car has the fewest miles so far of any Honda I've ever had before it started having issues, and this is by far the worst. I loved this car when I first bought it, but like every other Honda I've had it hasn't aged well. Rattles and squeaks, the usual Honda road noise, and the wheel warpage issue I mention in another complaint on this site. Very unhappy with this car, it will be my last Honda. I've been driving them since 1989, but they're gradually getting less reliable, new versions of cars are indistinguishable from their predecessors, and they're service departments are arrogant and unhelpful. How long before they lose enough sales to get back to making fun reliable cars again?
