I was parked in the shade and heard the windshield crack. The glass had a 10-12 inch crack starting at the bottom under the windshield wiper and curving up and toward the driver-side; it has now extended to about 16 inches.
Although there are numerous other internet boards discussing this same problem, and although I've seen three other Fits in the Austin area with the same crack in the same place, Honda states they've never heard of it before.
The Round Rock Honda service rep said he'd never heard about it, and the service manager wasn't there at the first stop I made. On the second stop I agreed to get my oil changed as the service manager had stepped out "to take her mother to therapy" and would be right back. While sitting in the lounge, the rep came back and said the service manager said it was a rock. I went and spoke to the service manager who said she ran a pen down the crack and it looked like a rock hole. When I asked her to show me, she again gouged the windshield and the 'hole' she pointed out is a half-inch craze, not a hole. I didn't stay for an oil change, as this same service department rooked me on a bad tire last year. I will never go back there.
