2 days after buying the car (new!) we had this issue, and roasted on a short, 2-hour road trip. We later took a 6,000 mile road trip and reproduced the problem over 60 times.
The most egregious instance happened when we were driving in 65 degree weather, at night, and the A/C, on MAX, was blowing 85 degree air.
No engine lights.

The AC would get weaker the hotter the weather was; of the 1,2,3,4 settings, 3 and especially 4 would make it blow hot air faster; the AC would need to be turned off for a while for it to start blowing cold air again; it was definitely not a freon leak; it got worse and worse until the 'turn it on and off again' temp fix stopped working and the AC only blew hot air; in socal thats a huge dip in quality of life; took it to a reputable auto AC specialist and they had to do the big and expensive job of overhauling the whole AC system; it finally worked after that, but cost me a pretty penny!
