My Fit’s starter crapped out with 70,000 miles! Battery is good, when you turn key, I hear a click and nothing happens! Was intermittent for a few days and left me stranded today. Never had a starter die with such low Miles/use. Seems to be common complaint online and is totally unacceptable.

Honda must have sourced JUNK starters. VERY disappointed, and not the Honda quality I am used to. Beyond frustrated and waiting to hear what this is going to cost (right before holidays!). Online seems to be between $750-1000 at the dealer. Unacceptable! Honda should step up and make this right by offering an extended warranty on this item, like they had to do with the push button start, fuel injectors etc on this crap car. Should have bought a Japan built Fit. These “made in Mexico” vehicles have very poor quality.

The car usually wouldn't try to start without turning the key a couple times. It seemed like a starter problem but I've never had a starter fail at such low mileage (45,000) miles so thought it might be the clutch detector switch, but that seemed OK. I love this car and have had it almost eight years and this is the first failure. I got a rebuilt starter for under $150 and replaced it myself (I've replaced several starters on cars before and never had a rebuilt one fail as long as I owned the car). I consider replacing a starter to generally be appropriate for most car DYIers, but this starter is hard to get to and wouldn't want to try replacing it without a good variety of wrenches and sockets and such. If you have someone else replace it, you may want to see if they would use a rebuilt starter to save some money.

In September, I started getting an error on my dash that ended up being about the starter push button. I got it fixed (for more than $200) and now my car takes forever to start. I have to hit the push button many times to get it to start, so I took it back to the Honda dealership and they told me my starter is bad. This car is only 4 years old and has only 55000 miles on it. The cost to fix this was over $600, so I spent over $800 on my car in less than a month! I will never buy a Honda again. I had a Suzuki for 10 years and it never had this problem.

Electronic starting issues. Constantly fails to start. I put in a new battery and also changed the battery to the key fob but still having starting issues. It intermittently fails to start. Sometimes it will take multiple tries before it will start. The vehicle has only 30,572 miles and this should not happen. A few times I actually had to attach a jump start power system to start the vehicle, everything in vehicle comes on normally with power just doesn't start constantly. Happens constantly no matter how far I drive.

The car was fine and then the brake was spongy and the button you push to start was hard to push. The whole panel of lights (e.g. oil light, check engine light) began flashing like crazy. The dealership replaced the handle, batter sensory, and core return. They also destroyed my regular battery and replaced that. As I drove off the lot, the starter crashed AGAIN. The switch (button I guess) failed. They tried to charge me another $1,300 then waived it when I complained. Now, five months later I have the same problem.

I could not start my car after work on a Wednesday, and the brake became stiff that I could not press it down. I tried a few times, finally, it started. After I got home and got ready to go out, it could not start again, I had to jump the car this time. At first, I thought its the battery, but I just got a new battery in August 2018. Went to the store where I brought the battery, they examined it and told me the battery still good. Went to get my oil change a few days ago, and the guy helped me check the battery again, its a good battery. he told me might be the starter. Tonight, I was going to the church gathering, another surprise, the car didn't start again!!! Tried a few times, finally got it started.

There was something wrong with the start push button back in Dec 2018, got it fixed by Honda dealer for $600. Now, its the starter. Everyone cannot believe how a starter would go bad in less than 50000 miles. But yes, I do think there are a lot of problems with the 2015 Honda Fit. Will call the mechanic tomorrow and get the car checked and probably get the starter replaced.

My 2015 Honda Fit EX has had issues with starting for a couple of months. Sometimes starts right up..... Often just "clicks" when I try starting it...in which case I have just continued to try, and it would eventually start up after 5 to 10 attempts. Just went into the Honda dealer this morning and the manager just told me "it sounds like it's probably the starter"....without doing any checking (and I believe there are other issues that can cause this) After only 30,000 miles (4.5 years), I will be quite disappointed to have to spend $775 (estimated by dealer) for a new starter. I sure hope he's planning on ruling out other causes (as he said he would) before replacing it. Judging by other complaints here, it's beginning to look as if this may be a common problem for the 2015 Fit.

Over the past several months, I experienced 3 events of the 2015 Honda Fit suddenly not starting. Needed to replace original battery, and added a check of the charging system with that to support the battery warranty.I elected to have this done at Goodyear Kahului (store #8026)as they have always priced far better than Island Honda (store#249). No issues noted after check.Immediately after the battery replacement, indeed the charge was up and normal, but the car did not immediately start-it's the push button.

Over the past six weeks, the car starts randomly; so far, it always get going, but the anxiety of trying is ridiculous. One time, it took 30 minutes. I took the Fit into dealer but they would only diagnose for 168$. If there was a problem, I pay that charge. If there is not a problem, I don't pay. Can someone make sense of this for me? I could not, didn't pay and headed to Goodyear. The Honda tech couldn't get the car going right away in rolling the car to the pick up area and said it was probably the starter-thanks, brah. I shoulddah pay you 168$.

At Goodyear, they checked it out and also said the starter needed replacing-and my invoice total read $0.00. They did their due diligence in researching starters available on island; we went from initial of 1,041$ down to 640$. I am with the other complainers here in loosing confidence with Honda for having a bum starter under 50,000miles. The car is not 4 years old.

So, its a battery replace in July, a starter in August, what's left for September-altenator? On a car I still making payments on? I have replaced the brakes also.I give all praise to the staff at Goodyear Kahului for being honest, friendly, very hard working and financially compassionate. After several Honda across 3 generations of my family, I think we are done with Honda. What happened-Lithia? The reliability of newer Hondas is not demonstrated with my 2015 Fit. I have not replaced the starter because I can't right now and as a substitute teacher, I rely on the car to get to schools islandwide, very early in the morning.

I want a solution from Island Honda, Honda or Lithia Corporation because spending this sort of repair maintenance in addition to the monthly payment is simply wrong. I suspect the Honda business model is to assemble the Fit with parts that will begin to sequentially fail after the 36,000 warranty expiration. I refuse to be held a Honda hostage. Anybody with me in calling for a recall with this starter issue?

I bought my Honda Fit 2015 brand new. I rarely drive my car and take good care of it. One day I turned my keys and just a 'CLICK' sound. One more time...another 'CLICK'. Tried it 10 times and the engine started. After that every time I turn off my car I had to turn on keys at least 10 times to start my car again. I couldn't believe a 15k mile car was having a problem like this. My problem got so annoying I was sure If I didn't take care of the problem one day car would not start at all.

I took it to mechanic he diagnosed the problem as the starter. Starter cost $360.00 and labor was $100.00. Total amount I paid with tax was $483.00. We all know that Honda has a good repetition but seems like they lowered their quality overall.

I bought a Honda specifically so I wouldn't have repair problems. In the 2 years I've had this Fit: I have had a suspension problem, the battery died, the key fob went bad 3 times in 4 months. Then a couple of weeks ago the push button ignition system started acting up. I'd have to push it 3 to 8 times for the car to actually start. Getting nervous that it would stop working for good, I took it into the dealership. I was told the starter was shot and I'd have to pay for a new starter. This in on a car that's 2 years old. They wouldn't cover any of it because it was out of warranty. Cost over $800 to replace the starter. I called the corporate office and they told me it's TFB and they won't do anything to help defray the expense. I will NEVER buy another Honda.
