Beware that Honda Automative will not repair or replace a faulty airbag unless it's recalled or still under new car warranty. From Lucy at Honda Automotive customer service: Your vehicle has more than 36,000 miles and is more than 3 years old. There is also a car fax showing an accident (2016 a bicycle hit the right rear quarter panel of the car while the car was parked in a driveway. This car fax report incident would not affect the driver seat airbag failure in 2024- per my service advisor at Performance Kings Honda).
The bottom line. Honda Automotive and the dealer, Performance Kings Honda, will not cover the replacement or repair of a faulty airbag leaving the consumer to foot the bill. This is wrong on many levels. We maintain our vehicle and it runs well but we have no control over failure of safety equipment. Sadly, Honda has chosen to wait and see if there are accidents involving death and injury and the government issues a recall instead of caring about their customers and proactively repairing this. Cars are built to last well beyond 3 years or 36,000 miles and the airbags should not fail. Based on Honda's response to our airbag failure, I will not purchase another product from them until / or unless this unsafe and unfriendly consumer approach to safety changes. Beware of Honda's horrible approach to driver safety.
