I purchased the car early 2016. I went from a luxury car to the fit. I immediately turned the headrest around so my head was not bent forward. I have had neck fusion so there was no way I could drive the car without turning them around. It was very simple to do. As time passed I just assumed I needed to adjust to a smaller car. At 2000 miles on the car, I drove to Las Vegas. Oh boy did that hurt.. I was constantly adjusting my seat but nothing helped. I came to the conclusion this vehicle was not good for long drives. A few months later I slowly developed lower back problems. For the entire rest of the year I have been to a chiropractor and physical therapy. In March 2017 I got a cortisone shot in my sacroiliac joint that did not work. Yesterday I went on line to see if there were any complaints on 2016 Honda fits and was surprised that others have experienced discomfort in the seats. You have to be 100 lbs and very fit to drive a Fit.

The head restraints are another terrible part of the awful seats on the 2016 Honda Fit. The head restraints push my head forward in an unnatural way. This contributes to the lower back pain. If the head restraints were truly ergonomic, they would provide support behind the back of the neck. Instead, there is no support behind the small of the neck, but you have a head restraint shoving your head too far forward.

The squishy seats without lumbar support cause lumbar pain that just does not go away, and the head restraints shove my head forward exacerbating the pain. The seats are not quality at all. This is my fourth and final Honda. I loved my 2005 CR-V, even though it did not have lumbar support exactly where I needed it, but at least the head restraint was comfortable and the seat was firm and supportive. The 2016 Honda Fit seats are cheap, squishy pieces of junk.

I purchased a new 2016 Honda Fit on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Voss Honda in Tipp City, Ohio. I had taken a 5-10 minute test drive prior to purchasing the car and it seemed OK. After purchasing the car I started my hour drive home. After approximately 20 minutes my lower back started aching, so I adjusted my seat. No improvement, back still aching, after adjusting the seat and driving another 10 minutes. So I adjusted it again, back pain getting worse, no improvement after second seat adjustment. So I adjusted it again and again and again and nothing helped to relieve the back pain that THE SEAT WAS CAUSING!

I finally get home after an hour and my lower back was throbbing and I was in significant pain all caused my the seat in my new Fit. So that evening I tried adjusting my seat over and over and tried adding pillows and pads trying to find some way to make driving this car bearable but no success. I reached a point where I placed a memory foam pillow on the seat back but it pushed me so far forward my knees were jammed against the lower dash which made the car unsafe for me to drive.

The following Friday morning I emailed the man, Mike Thompson, who had sold me the car and asked him if he had any solutions to the problem I was having with the seat in my new Fit. I also asked if there were any options for me to return the car or cancel the sale due to the car being undriveable for any distance. Mike told me he was sorry that I was having a problem but he had no solution for me. He also told me that there is no option to return the car or cancel the sale nor is there an option to exchange it for a different vehicle. He said that best that he may be able to do is to have me trade it in and see if there is something else that would work for me on their lot but he would not be able to do anything until after Jan. 15.

So basically I am stuck with a car that is undriveable for any distance with no clear fix to a very poorly designed seat. I was a big fan of Honda quality and design but losing faith in this company at this point in time. Looking for an alternative vehicle until I can get this problem resolved or can get rid of the Fit. I'm very disappointed since I like almost everything else about this car except the unbearable drivers seat.

I am at the point now that I really beginning to worry about my physical health, meaning neck and shoulder pain and soreness. I worry that repeated aggravation of the same "injury"...well let's face it, that is what it constitutes...will lead to some serious problems. I don't know if there is a fix. I actually considered turning the head restraint around. I bought a neck cushion to fill in that v-shaped void that is created by the head restraint that is too-far-fwd and that is not helping at all. I really have to question how their engineers could make such a disastrous mistake. I may have to trade in.

For tall drivers the seat does not go back far enough on the 2016 Honda Fit.. You drive with your knees up in the air and all the weight on you butt and your rear hurts on all but short trips. Would not want to take car on long trip. Seat extenders are needed to let seats move back 4 or 5 inches. This would help distribute your weight on the bottom of your legs and your butt. www.extendmyseat.com has an extender that costs 249.00 for one seat. Kind of expensive for a brand new car. Would think Honda would at least have the extenders in stock for tall drivers.

Brand new car. Today: our second trip of more than a few miles in town. We drove 100 miles and my husband's torso was in such pain we had to change drivers half way there. Our first trip was the same: crippled up when he got out of the car, but he thought maybe he was having a bad day. Now I see on the web that Honda does not think this is an issue? My the seats in my former car, a Mazda never caused me pain. So is the solution to dump by brand new car? Buy extra equipment to mitigate the problem?

I purchased a Honda Fit 3-28-16, the next day I drove it to work and noticed head, neck, and back pain. I drove the car home that evening and my left shoulder, elbow, and fingers were numb. I also had sever pain running down my spinal column from my cervical vertebra down to my sacrum area, hip pain was also present. I spent the next 4 weeks purchasing seat wedges, lumbar supporters, gel cushions, etc, nothing helped the pain just got worse. When I saw all the complaints on line, I knew it was a lost cause.

I went back to the dealership on 4-30-16. I was told there was nothing they could do as Honda has no seat replacement. Four hours later, a $2,000 cash payment, and an upside down car payment I left with a Honda Civic, financed $2,000 more to get out of the car. It cost me $4,000. I took a test drive in the Civic and did not realize that this seat would also turn out to cause sever back pain. I am in good shape, do yoga almost every night and I am experiencing, mind blowing back pain. I am 5'3", I weigh 122 Lbs.

I am going to contact an attorney, file formal complaints, bye an after market seat to put in the car as I am in a state of constant chronic back pain, shoulder pain, and both of my arms are numb. I have no history of back pain but I sure do now. The Civic seat is so small and low that my legs are bumping into the door and center console while driving and I have to use the steering wheel and a wedge between my Left leg and the door to stay centered. I drove a 2003 Civic and loved it, no complaints, I'd give anything to get my big comfortable 2003 Civic seats back. This 2016 Civic is dangerous as there is no support for ones body of my stature. Shame on Honda

Extremely uncomfortable front seat, did not notice on test drive, but after long commutes and trips tail bone and lower back hurt bad. had to have custom foam wedge made for seat. Lousy design.

Update from Jan 29, 2020: found a solution, http://extendmyseat.com/ , they make seat bracket to allow the seat to move farther back for more leg room and thigh support. It may or maynot take time to get them.

It's worth the wait, but you have to be patient, and no they won't answer your emails, and it may take up to a couple months to get it, but be patient, you will get it eventually and it will be worth the wait. It was a lifesaver for my 2016 Honda Fit. The moment you place your order it shows that it shipped, but it has not, but it will sooner or later, usually later. They probably wait until they have enough orders for your vehicle to tool up to run a batch of them.
