The contact stated that she was able to stop and turn the vehicle off. The contact stated the passenger front side bumper, the grill, and part of the passenger side quarter panel had been crushed by the crash. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was not filed. No injuries were reported. The contact stated that she drove the vehicle off of the highway, but had to stop due to multiple warnings illuminated on the instrument cluster including a "do not drive" warning. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed a total loss. A police report was filed, but no injuries were reported. The contact did not receive medical attention on the day of the collision. However, the contact later transported himself to an area hospital and was treated for chest and abdominal pain. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not assist.
