Steering sticks when turning the wheel giving a jerking feel

The steering wheel effectively sticks at any speed, especially at the home position. It takes a meaningful amount of force to move the steering wheel once stuck, creating a safety hazard. I noticed this while driving the car, who we bought for our son, creating even more of an issue for him being a new driver. It-??s my understanding this is a known issue with the Civic and other models. It does need to be addressed before someone gets hurt.

The steering is sticking and jerky without the lane assist, especially when it's cold out. Instead of normal smooth steering correction while driving, it builds up pressure while trying to correct, then it feels like a slip, then a jerk. It makes me feel very unsafe and I always now have to have a firm grip on the wheel

2023 Honda hrv I have a sticking steering wheel. It seems to happen in colder wet weather. The steering wheel seems to kind of get stuck, and you have to really pull to get it to free up, but then on the next turn of the wheel, it sticks again. So it-??s a constant battle. For me it happens at higher speeds, 55mph or higher. This has been happening about a month. I made an appt with my Honda dealer, they couldn-??t find anything wrong, no codes. They gave me no invoice.

No incident has happened yet. The issue I am having is with the steering. When driving, it seems as though the steering is almost sticking and when it finally adjusts, it does like a small jerk. It's almost like the car doesn't want you to turn or adjust the steering at all and wants you to stay straight. Seems worse now that it's getting cold outside, but it could be that it's just getting worse with time. I'm worried about how its going to drive when it's raining outside. I took it to the dealer and the service advisor blamed it on my car getting hit when it was parked and said that it had to do with that. The damage to my car was very minimal and didn't affect anything other than cosmetics. When I told him that I started feeling this sticking feeling with the steering wheel, he said that it had nothing to do with Honda. I thought maybe it was all in my head, but the more I drive it, the more I know that there is actually something wrong. Today I did some research and it turns out that I'm not the only one having the issue. Obviously, this needs to be investigated before someone gets hurt or possibly even killed. It's definitely a safety issue. Please look into this!!

Steering is jerking available for inspection. The jerking of the steering wheel does not allow the car to stay in its driving lane and requires constant over steering to stay in a highway lane. This is the first step in reporting the issue and will be reaching out to American Honda and other parties to address this issue as we are financing this new purchase which was purchased in early June of 2023. No warning lights are displayed in the Honda HR-V and no messages are occurring while operating this car. This started on 11/22/2023 and is still occurring as of 11/24/23. This is a very dangerous situation.

steering wheel at times will momentarily get stuck and require added force to overcome resistance. This happens every time the vehicle is driven but it is mostly suttle. On one occasion correction resulted in the vehicle leaving the lane I was traveling in. There were no warning notifications from the vehicle.

When driving at highway speed (65mph), attempted to make subtly changes to stay within the center of my lane. When trying to do this, the steering wheel "ticks" or "jerks" instead of smoothly adapting. When keeping within my lane while the highway lane curved, I was able to stay in it, but every adjustment to stay in the middle of the lane during the curve ticked and almost over corrected, making it difficult to navigate smoothly. I am constantly adjusting due to the over correction of the tick/jerk. This issue seemed to go away after slowing down to 35mph, but happened again at any higher speed. No warnings/messages/ or symptoms made themselves known prior to this event. Has yet to be taken to the dealer for this issue but planning to schedule an appointment after the Thanksgiving holiday. Unable to take my car on an elongated car ride as the problem causes stress to the driver.

When driving, at any speed, the steering sticks when trying to correct within the lane. If I'm driving straight and the car drifts a bit, it takes more effort to make minor corrections. I've seen reports that this happens more during colder weather. My concern is that this is my daughter's car and I fear this could cause an accident if the roads are wet or it takes even more effort than normal to correct and she over corrects. We have an appointment with our dealer on Monday. There are no warnings for this in the vehicle.

Intermittently, the steering wheel feels 'sticky' and any steering adjustments feel jerky. It's as if pressure builds up preventing typical steering adjustments from feeling smooth as they should. I just started experiencing the problem recently again when the temperature dropped below 70F. The problem also seems worse when driving on the highway, which is particularly concerning. Yes, I think Honda needs to address this for safety. Simple lane changes and steering adjustments should not be this difficult. I have owned over a dozen vehicles, and this is the first time I have ever experienced this. Especially with a vehicle with less than 20K on it.

My car is under 10,000 miles and I've had it since November 2023, and in August 2023, the steering wheel began to feel "sticky" and has ever since then. The steering wheel feels jerky when driving at no particular speed and acts up randomly, but I have noticed it is becoming more pronounced. I notice it when I'm driving straight in my lane, and have not felt it when making a lane change or turning. At some point it's like the steering wheel is met with such resistance when steering, I have to use an abnormal amount of effort to move the steering wheel just to stay in my lane. Sometimes, when having the car parked, if you slightly move the wheel back and forth, you can feel the stickiness, and even here the wheel getting stuck. The steering wheel does not feel smooth when driving. I did bring it to a Honda dealership a couple of times this past month and the technician was unable to detect an issue when running a diagnostics test. My car did not show any warning indicators.
