1999 Honda Odyssey ex. 65,300miles. The check engine light on. Code P0740 faulty trans. When start acceleration the first gear is slippery and the driver feels "kick-back". especially when drive on free way it takes time to speed up from the fist gear to the next gear.

: the contact stated while driving 20 mph on dry asphalt roads, the vehicle did not accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed all the way to the floor. There was no response. The vehicle was pulled to the side of the road, and all the warning lights illuminated. It was taken to a service dealer, who was unable to duplicate the problem. Updated 10/30/2006 - the dealer replaced electrical parts. The recalled part had been previously replaced when the recall was receibed about two years ago.

Transmission failing. Clutch engages late and suddenly: Engine revs as gas is applied but clutch doesn't engage, then clutch engages suddenly, causing car to jerk forward hard. This is dangerous--can't pull out into traffic, because I don't know if car will actually go when I step on the gas, and car coasts as transmission tries (but fails) to shift between e.g. 1st and 2nd. Please require a recall on this--many people have reported the same problem in auto newsgroups on the internet. This is clearly a manufacturing defect, and a potentially serious safety problem as well.

While going up a mountain engine check light came and consumer kept driving. Vehicle would not go foward, it kept going backards. Consumer feels this is very unsafe, especially for their kids.
