We purchased a 1999 Odyssey in about 2003, We have had the transmission replaced by Honda Twice Already!! Once at 55000, and then again at 80000. At that point , I knew it was just a matter of time that it would happen again but since it was paid off and great for carrying everything I needed. (Carrying my rode bikes inside is a huge plus.) I was hoping to keep it for a while.
I almost traded it in for $2000 a month ago and now at 130000 miles the check engine light came on and a transmission code came up when checked at Auto Zone. I just had the tranny flushed last week too! Will be calling tomorrow, but I am not dropping $3000 on this van to guess when it will break again!

purchased from a reputable car lot, told the car ran excellent . test drove for two days ran fabulous then about a two days after my purchase, check engine light came on had diagnostic text done, told it could be a number of things, catalytic converter being one of them told it was not transmission, then took a trip got stranded had to leave at a mechanic i did not know, he skewed me to the wall said it was bad solenoids replaced for over 500 dollars and i picked it up half way home and it started jumping , not shifting correctly and jerking and reving up at stops, drove home because it was closer, called mechanic he said he'll come get it and check again, took him two months to send a wrecker after i threating to take him to court. he came said he checked it said couldnt find any problem i picked up again, half way out of his town and it started jumping and shifting horribly again, called mechanic and now he wont return my calls..... livid..
i believe dealership new of the problem and sold it anyway... i took to a good mechanic and he told me in minits it was the transmission and will cost up to 2700 dollars to fix. called the better business bureou and they said not much i can do but file complaint and hope the first mechanic gives me at least half my money back.... the mechanics name was walt nellen said he was assistant manager would not give me owner name but i found out who. he is:

This valve was part of a NEW TRANSMISSION, replaced only 10 months earlier. The transmission had 1,000 miles over its 36,000 mile warranty.
