Odyssey LX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

We can't open the sliding doors (both sides) from inside. We can only open them from outside. This is very annoying. We were told that we have to replace the sliding doors entirely, which will cost much more than the current value of the car. The sticky sliding door has been a problem since we purchased it in 2000. We claimed it but they didn't replace the doors unfortunately. We don't know what to do with this van.

Odyssey LX 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 63,000 miles

We bought this Odyssey in Los Angeles used in 2004 with 48,000 miles. We had read about incredible features such as the electronic doors, stow-and-go rear seats and cupholders for days - so we chose this type of car and instantly loved it. Within a year however the passenger door would not seem to close and seal and re-open altogether. we manually had to guide it and force it at times. Ultimately we stopped using that side door. A few months later the driver side door began doing the same thing. Oddly mechanics would tell me to take it to a body shop. I did. They said take it to a dealership. No way. Finally a friend read up on it, bought new pully kits for the doors removed and reseated them and have worked ever since. We paid $80 for the kits and two hours labor w/ shop supplies for $325.

From the time we test drove the van and even today there has been problems with the sliding doors. Of course the salesman and service center say, "Don't worry, we'll take care of you!" Of course that's a smoke screen. These doors sometimes stick closed and/or open. There are times when we can't use them. The door track system is just poorly designed. There is too much play in them. If the top track is slightly out of alignment with the bottom track, problems occur.

The service rep we keep getting stuck with is a moron too. I tell him to please have the service tech look at a problem and he tells me to fix it myself or not worry about it. Things they should fix they don't. Also, Zimbrick of Madison's service center doesn't inspect everything they check off when in for maintenance checks. Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy!
