The contact owns a 2000 Honda Odyssey. After having the transmission replaced by an authorized dealer the vehicle no longer needed to be shifted into park in order to pull the key out of the ignition. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where he was informed that there was a failure within the ignition switch which needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 96,695 and the current mileage was 122,000.

The contact owns a 2000 Honda Odyssey. While parking the vehicle she removed the keys from the ignition and the vehicle began rolling backwards. She engaged the brakes and realized that she had not shifted into park. During routine maintenance checks with the dealer she advised them of the failure and they offered no assistance. The vehicle was previously owned and was purchased in 2006. The contact stated that the failure was constant. She talked to the dealer at least ten times about the failure and they have not diagnosed the failure. The failure mileage was 106,000 and the current mileage was 130,868. Updated 11/03/10. The contact stated that she never shifted the gear into park when she stopped the vehicle. The dealer was contacted and stated that the lock in the ignition failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 106,000 and the current mileage was 116,000. The consumer stated she drove in her garage, with her foot on the brake. When she stopped, she took the key out of the ignition and suddenly, the vehicle rolled back in the garage door that had already been closed. The consumer stated the vehicle was not in park even though the keys were in her hand. Updated 10/26/10

The contact owns a 2000 Honda Odyssey. Honda recall#O2-031 is related to the ignition switch. The contact stated her vehicle is not starting because the ignition switch is defective and the engine shuts off while she is driving. The drive has to shut the engine off to allow the ignition switch to reset itself. The dealer confirmed that the VIN was not a part of the recall. The failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 90,000.
