I have a complaint to file on the 2005 Honda Odyssey ex model. For the past several months, we have noticed that whenever we pressed on the brakes, there is a loud creaking sound, a sound of metal creaking as if it is about to snap. It happens whenever we have to brake suddenly or do a hard stop. And when we do a hard stop, the creaking sound is accompanied by a sensation of hesitation coming from the brakes, as if the brakes have skipped or slipped and they had to tighten again to stop. As a result, our braking distance is quite tight and we have to give ourselves even greater distance to brake safely. But in hard and sudden stops, we don't have that luxury and thus far we have been lucky that we have not hit anyone or anything. But we have had close calls. I have contacted Honda several times regarding this issue and gone to several dealers to get this issue resolved. Each time I have been told that Honda is aware of this issue but they are still working on a fix for this problem. In the meantime, I am forced to drive a van in which I have lost confidence in its braking system.

: the contact stated there is a loud grinding noise heard while applying the brakes. Extra pressure is needed on the brake pedal to sufficiently stop the vehicle. The dealership has inspected the vehicle four times and determined the problem cannot be duplicated.
- Richton Park, IL, USA
: the contact stated while driving 60mph the vehicle ran over road debris. A short time later the wheel speed sensor error light illuminated intermittently. Upon inspection the dealership determined the frontal driver side wheel speed sensor was missing.

I purchased a new 2005 Honda Odyssey ex-L in October 2004, and I have experienced multiple incidents in which the brakes make a very loud grinding noise with medium hard braking. The grinding occurs more frequently with prolonged stops, such as when driving downhill. The grinding has not resulted in any apparent loss of braking ability or loss of control, but I am aware of quite a few other new Odyssey owners who have complained of the same problem.

I just purchased a 2005 Honda Odyssey about a month ago, it currently has 500 miles on it. Last week, the ABS, vsa, and brake light came on. I had it towed into the koons Honda dealership in manassas for repair. I was notified that the vsa control unit was bad, however they could not repair it because the part is on indefinite backorder from Honda. They stated that they had no idea if the part would take day, weeks, or months to get in. The did state that my car was 'safe' to drive, however it would not have ABS, vsa, braking assist, or traction control until the vsa module is replaced. This does not reflect 'safe' in my eyes, especially given the weather we are supposed to have tomorrow. Could this not pose some type of liability issue for Honda if there was an accident that could have possibly been prevented if the safety features were active. I asked the dealership if there was any problems getting new Odyssey for sale and they said 'no', that they had a regular flow of them coming in. So Honda, obviously prioritizes that the vsa control units are first slated for new vehicles, and has not allocated enough for possible issues on sold vehicles. I have contact Honda through there 1-800 number and the case has been escalated to a call manager that I am waiting to hear from.
