And then the aftermarket mounts proceeded to fail as well- which the dealership used as a good reason why I should get the Honda Brand ones. Why someone can't just use a non-electric "Just keep the engine in the car" type mount with the technology level of the 1950's is beyond me. Extra fancy now-a-days = extra pricey, and with 2 mounts out now and a current $1300/mount price tag, I'm thinking that I could buy another used 2004 Honda Odyssey that still works with far fewer problems for more than I could get the motor mounts replace, regardless of any other problems.

The operation of the VTEC engine seems to overwork the mounts on this vehicle.

This seems to be a very common problem on this vehicle!

VCM = Variable Cylinder Management per Honda. Looking back the motor mounts had failed before and at one point had been replaced by the previous owner around 80,000 miles. This seems to be an ongoing issue with the VCM system in hondas as it ruins the motor mounts and is amazingly expensive to replace. This makes me never want to own a car with some sort of cylinder shut off system. Note even before the VCM system caused vibrations brake down the motor mounts you can still feel the vibration and general lack of smooth driving when the VCM system turns on.

Mounts cost too much and repair is even worse. Awful design for sure they want $1800 just to replace one, there's are 5 total.

So far I had to replace engine mounts 4 times. After first time I get 1 year warranty for parts so basically I have to replace them every year, but I don't have to pay for parts again. Pepboys are the best. I spoke with my friend who works for Honda Service and he told me that not only 2005-2009 models have this problem, new Honda models as well. 2010-2015. It is a case for prosecutor. It is only one way to avoid this problem do not buy Honda again. Dealers shows you middle finger and nobody take car about this problem. My next mini van is going to be Mercedes Vito.

Dealer says motor mounts have failed .... especially the main front & rear electrically controlled ones.
Honda Estimates $2600 to fix! I'm retired and can't afford such outrageous prices!

This was the worst vehicle I've ever owned. Nothing but headaches and costly repairs the entire time of ownership. Please do your homework before considering this Honda. This complaint is for the Rear Motor mount which was replaced 3 times in 5 years.
Other issues to mention -
PAX run flat tires (What a joke. $500 each to replace and barley lasted 20k miles with proper rotations) Also no donut or place for a spare. Starter replaced twice AC compressor replaced around 80,000 Auto sliding doors issues with hinge rollers wearing out and sensors in the latch causing the door to not close.
Overall very dissatisfied with Honda quality and dependability, and will probably never own one again.

We've had motor mount problems since the car was 3 months old. When it happens, the car sounds & feel like something is grinding in the engine. We've used both 'genuine Honda' & aftermarket replacements, but it doesn't cure the problem. We've replaced about 8 mounts so far, the last time 8 months ago, and there's another broken now. The car is only driven in town & highways, and slowly over speed bumps; never on rough terrain. Any suggestions?

Changing all the motor mounts at 45,000 miles is really surprising. For a minivan that has the reputation as the best minivan in US is somewhat surprising too

This is terrible having replaced engine mounts 3rd time under 100,000 miles. This is a serious design flaw in the 2005 Honda Odyssey.

I went for an oil change sometime around mid of October, 2015. The mechanic gave me a suggestion that soon, I've to replace all my 3 motor mounts. I would say that this is an abnormal condition in 2005 Honda Odyssey. This is the 4th time, I've to pay for motor mounts. The mileage at that time was 101,120. Now, as of January 5th 2016, I see there is some kind of weird loud sound when I start my car and at low speeds I can hear that sound. My guess is I've to replace my motor mounts again, for $1000(small mechanic store) or $1600(Honda Dealer), in about a week or so.

Problem was first noticed as a noise in the front end during acceleration.

Our Honda Odyssey Touring engine mount has failed and it causes a large vibration while driving. It is super annoying but according to our mechanic it's not a mandatory fix right away. If we decide to fix it it would cost around $1200! Because it's the special touring package and needs a fancy part :)

2005 Odyssey has cost more for repairs than the total for 5 Camrys.

Motor mount failure on 3 out of 4 mounts.....2 were $1,200 dollars a piece to replace. Boo Hiss Honda

The van was making a loud humming noise like a muffler issue and shifting rough sometimes. I was told by the first Asst Mgr that it was the transmission, then he had a technician ride in the car and he said it was a rear motor mount. They replaced it, but it still doesn't fix the problem! Taking it back in for the 4th time.

They claim that it makes the car make a louder noise. That was the estimate for the repair.

I drive 20mile speed high engine hot and stop. It could be CATALYST Converter. Maybe the converter is bad or fuel system problem is not solid. Honda Dealer is very high priced and expensive steel but not warranty strongly. Do not buy Honda. Buy
HYUNDAI OR KIA - THEY HAVE 10 YEAR WARRANTY.
