2005 Honda Odyssey '-the sliding doors fell off !!!!!!. I researched and discovered a numerous amount of problems with the sliding doors. There is a recall for newer models and they too have the exact same issues. The problems range from a grinding noise, auto doors not opening completely than closing. To the back of the door slightly opening then the beeping indicator is constantly on while driving. The battery is being drained because the doors never close completely. The center rollers are cheap plastic which I believe causes the grinding noise. Once they wear out it gets worse. These are not some isolated complaints!! there are too many others with every year of the Odyssey that have these issues !! and now I finally see a recall. All theses issues have happened during different times. Some while stationary. Some while driving. The worst one where the door literally fell off was parked in my drive way. (thank god) I took it to the dealership and they diagnosed the problem and rigged my door but it is not safe to drive. Why was this not recalled a long time ago?? there are too many complaints to ignore this !! the newer models have been recalled for this exact problem. I owned an Accord for 14 years over 300,000 miles. The best car I ever had. Than bought this 2005 Odyssey and just recently purchased a 2018 CRV ex. It's wrong that Honda does not back up their reputation.

Our 2005 Honda Odyssey vibrates, especially around 35-45 mph. Honda told us that the engine mounts have broken and that is what is causing it. They are not a cheap fix. Engine mounts, the last thing that you would think would go out on a vehicle! yet, when you go online, this apparently seems to be a massive problem with these vans. Honda has a problem with their engine mounts braking and this seems to be ok with them. This is not ok. They need to take responsibility for this failure. We have already been through having to replace many other failures from Honda throughout the years, including replacing the fuel cap before they recalled it. We will no longer be purchasing Honda vehicles.

The contact owns a 2005 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving, the steering wheel was tight and the serpentine belt fractured. In addition, the bolts fractured associated with the suspension pulleys more than twice causing a failure. The vehicle was towed more than once and taken to an independent mechanic a third time, who replaced the serpentine belt, the bolts and the pulleys. The independent mechanic checked with the manufacturer on the oem parts that had been ordered and they stated that the bolts were newly designed but provided no resolution on why the bolts prematurely fractured three times. The independent mechanic repaired the vehicle. The contact was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 05V039000 (steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

Told by dealer that the engine mounts are cracked and need to be replaced. In looking online, I've found this complaint on numerous sites.

Engine mounts on the car broke and need replacement.

Van vibrates uncontrollably because of defective electronic motor mounts, which cost thousands of dollars to replace, and causes handling problems which could result in a crash.

One owner of a 2005 Honda Odyssey. Vehicle used to drive back and forth to work, general errands, occasional drive out of town. Within the past couple of months, my wife noticed severe shaking of steering wheel when accelerating at 65 mph. Vehicle taken to shop, had vehicle inspected: Usual tire rotation, alignment, balancing performed; however problem persisted, and replaced two new tires. Took vehicle back to same shop, alignment and balancing re-done; however, problem persisted. Took vehicle to different shop--purchased 4 new tires, and had alignment and balancing performed once again; however, problem persisted. Had tires replaced and alignment and balancing performed yet again; however, problem persists. Advised by shop manager that he is 95% sure based on driving test that motor mounts are in need of replacement. It is my opinion that the motor mounts are prematurely failing, and thus deemed to be faulty, and that they should be replaced by Honda a their expense. Too many other Honda Odyssey owners with same issue, and expensive repairs.

Big O euro tire tire tracking with longitudinal road Contour changes causing the front of the vehicle to shift right or left. Big O rep said it was an alignment issue. After alignment the tracking was only more pronounced. While passing a vehicle the tracking almost pulled my car into vehicle I was passing.

Odyssey had great vibration through steering wheel and through body of car. Vibration varied depending on speed. This could of caused a tragic accident. Diagnosis was failure of rear and side motor mounts for the second time in 20 months. Poor design of these mounts fail prematurely and cause vibration and handling errors which could have tragic consequences.

Vehicle has 93K and has a vibration feedback issue around 40mph. I have had the vehicle serviced for a rear mount replacement. Issue is less severe, but is still noticeable. Taken it to dealer three times, unable to detect the issue. Over 83 postings in edmunds for similar issues.

2005 Honda Odyssey noise in the front of the vehicle and shaking in steering wheel. Consumer states that the dealer stated the wheel bearings needed to be replaced. Even after the replacement the problem persisted. The consumer was informed the problem he was experiencing with the shaking was due to a inoperative catalytic converter. It was replaced, however the noise and shaking continued. The vehicle had run flat tires, so if the tires became flat the consumer could drive up to 50 miles, however when the consumer experienced a flat, the vehicle would not move. The consumer was informed the tire was defective. The engine light illuminated. The consumer was told the vehicle needed another catalytic converter. When the consumer picked the vehicle up, the engine light was still on.

I purchased a new 2005 Honda Odyssey exl-res on 7/21/05 and I've had a consistent problem ever since. From the first day I picked up the vehicle from clinton Honda's parking lot I immediately experienced excessive steering wheel vibration. It was horrible and started at 65 mph and continued to 75 mph. I took the vehicle back to the dealership the very next day and they diagnosed the problem as out of balanced wheels -- each wheel was off by 30 grams. That same day I took the vehicle home and experienced the same problem again. I immediately returned to the dealership and asked to speak with the service manager. The service manager said the wheels zeroed out and he didn't feel there was anything else he could do. I insisted that he repair the problem so he told me to come back a week later after he sent a mechanic out for training on their hunter wheel balancing machine. I returned a week later and this time they road-forced balanced the tires and found them to be 10 grams off each side. They also found a service bulletin on the issue which suggested a toe adjustment -- which they performed. I left the dealership again expecting the problem to be resolved but it wasn't. instead, I now have an additional problem where the vehicle pulls excessively to the left and right depending on the curvature of the road --whereas before it would keep its intended course. I went back to the dealership again -- this time to speak with my sales person and the sales manager. The sales person accompanied me for a test drive to witness the problem. He noticed the problem as I did so he suggested that we test drive another Odyssey to see if the problem is systematic. We drove a gold color Odyssey (both him and I) and that vehicle did not exhibit the problem. Also, I mentioned to the sales person that the sliver demo I initially drove did not have this problem either.

While driving about 10 mph the consumer heard a noise which sounded like metal rubbing metal. The noise seemed to be coming from the brakes and was accompanied by vibrations. The dealer was unable to find anything wrong with the vehicle. The seat belt came out of the door jam while the consumer was leaning forward. The passenger door make noise when opened or closed.
