paint flaking/peeling

I did not expect that the paint on the Honda Odyssey will be of such low quality that it would peel. It is looks ugly.

The paint is coming off in sheets on my 2006 Odyssey. It looks horrible and for a new hood it is over a grand which is cheaper than the repaint job most places want. Is this covered in anyway?

We thought we were getting a brand new Honda from the factory, just like we did when we leased our 2000 Honda Odyssey. But the salesman said, " they were able to get our Honda from the Reddell Honda Dealership. It was about 40 miles from Crest Honda. We noticed it had few chips out of the paint then. The salesman said, "that probably happened on the drive over from Reddell. We believed him. But then later, maybe 5,000 miles later, we saw places on the front that had chipped. Then, we saw rust spots. Then, maybe, 25,000 miles, we saw paint chipped on the back bumper. Now, after 100,000 miles, there are about 70 chipped places.

Honda will not help me with this. Having owned 6 Honda cars it is extremely disappointing to know that they will not fix something that is a known problem. Never got any letter about an extended warranty and the dealer never mentioned it on the multiple times I had my vehicle serviced there. The paint is the last thing you should have to worry about in a car. I've learned that 30 years of customer loyalty is not worth a paint job to them. Any suggestions on other makes and models are welcome.

Just really awful and the process to try to get this repaired. I tried to get the issue resolved 2 years when minor flaking started to occur. No response to fix. Now brought it in 3 weeks ago to try an get resolved and no one calls back or gets back to me on this issue. American Honda does not want to acknowledge or proactively fix the issue on behalf of their loyal customers.

paint flaking/peeling

Never received a notice or recall about the paint. Took to dealer a year after and was told they would cover $1000 of cost on a $2400 roof blend and hood repaint. Paint flaking off in chunks was from poor application (that's what the body shop recommended by the dealership told me). I can't seem to get a person above the dealership to talk to me in person. Not buying another Honda again if they can't stand behind their products.

Is there a recall from Honda for this?

Contacted Honda Corporation about the problem. They wanted me to take it to a local dealer to have it looked at, get pictures and estimate of cost to fix so that Honda America could look at the problem. The pictures match exactly to the paint problem on the Warranty extension that was issued May 08 for Blue vans. Even the dealership admitted it. Honda America admitted they saw the pictures but would not pay for the total cost for fixing this issue.

Honda's quality is no where near where it was ten years ago. If you are thinking of purchasing a Honda please consider another automaker.

paint peeling off on roof, looks like it will continue to get worse(big circle directly above windshield)Had hood repainted last year, same time, covered by Honda, still waiting to hear if they will cover roof??

Update from Apr 14, 2011: Called Honda Canada, they informed me that the paint recall had been extended for seven years; therefore they painted the roof, no cost to me!!

I took my vehicle into darrel waltrip honda in Nov for this problem svc manager informed me that my paint was not "flaking" in affected area. called Honda complaint dept and started a claim. talked to others and they rec. taking to another Honda dealer, so took to crest honda once again no conclusions. Honda is trying to say that since my front bumper was repainted and that they "blended" on the fenders which was no where near the problem is (same problem and place pictured in the tsb on inner fender but now is peeling onto exterior of my driver fender) but said that now mine is not covered. the bad thing is I first took this to crest when i first purchased and was told no not bad enough to worry a/b also mentioned at this time vehicle only had 36,5xx that has power steering problem same as tsb referring to replacement of the p/s pump and reservoir replacement svc rep. said NO out of warranty by 5xx miles so i would have to pay almost $800 for repairs, then i showed him the paint problem then he stated was not in the affected area and only gave me the first page of tsb (that did not show any pics) i feel that Honda should own up and warranty the problem . it is VERY clear that this is NOT an area that was repainted and they are using that as an excuse not to pay, from what i've read on the net and talking to local body shops this is VERY common problem and is why they have "extended" the pain warranty.. all i want is my vehicle fixed that i paid good money for and i thought i spent it on a good brand of automobile but looks like i was totally mistaken. if anyone knows how to contact someone higher up in Honda customer svc. please let me know b/c you cannot get resolution with the customer svc b/c they are the "middle men" and you can't talked to anyone else besides dealer and they will NOT give you any other number but the customer svc. # thanks.
