While driving our 2007 Honda Odyssey (42,000 miles) the brakes automatically activated. On October 24, 2010, my husband and I had just taken off on the highway, and had reached approximately 45-50 mph. All of a sudden I thought he had slammed on brakes in the middle of the highway. He said they did it on their own. We drove another 1/2 mile to a gas station and it happened two more times. Once we pulled into the gas station he pressed on the brake pedal a few times, and checked to make sure the emergency break wasn't on, or that the car didn't slip out of gear. Everything seemed fine, so we ventured the additional 5 miles to home with no additional problems. Today is Sunday, so I will be taking the van to the dealership tomorrow.

Soft brake problem on 2007 Honda Odyssey still exists after the 2010 April soft brake recall procedure has been applied. Even though the recall procedure was applied to the car, the same problem continues to exist. Honda should come up with a solution that really fix this problem.

Honda Odyssey 2007 touring: Brakes just do not work adequately; stops are overrun by 1/3 to 1/2 vs. My 1996 Dodge Caravan w/ 175,000 miles on it. The brakes are very spongy and soft, do not engage immediately and surely do not stop one in normal highway driving.

My brakes shake and cause my steering to shake when applied at any speed over approx. 40mph. No accidents to report, just has concerned me for a while that this happens when braking. Makes me feel very unsure.

Steering wheel shakes and braking is lagging has almost cause an accident. I have alerted dealer of this defect and do not feel comfortable driving the car.

2007 Honda Odyssey soft brakes. Pedal must go to the floor to stop the vehicle.

My wife and I own a 2007 Honda Odyssey, and have a consistent and perpetual brake problem. The brakes have always been really soft and go almost to the ground when braking. In addition, when applying the brakes, such as when pulling up to a stop sign, there is a very loud grinding noise. In my experience that grinding noise is a bad thing. However, according to my dealer, and we have taken the van in for brake service several times for them to fix this issue, this is normal for Honda Odyssey. Something to do with the material of the brake pads because the car is heavier. But this cannot possibly be normal, and the brakes should not take so long to engage. I have a very hard time getting this van to brake going down hills and am constantly afraid that they will not engage in time for me to stop before hitting the car in front of me. I am concerned for the safety of my family, and am extremely concerned that Honda has taken no action to correct this issue, especially considering that all of the research I have completed shows that there are many, many complaints of the same nature from other Honda Odyssey owners.

We have 3 my 07 Honda Odyssey vans and two of them have had the brake modulators replaced due to loss of pedal and in one case going through an intersection. I haven't had this van in yet to see if they would replace the modulator but on this van the brake pedal seems to go down farther than it should. I hasn't exhibited the instances of the other vans but one has to wonder is it only a matter of time? I my self have felt the peddle somewhat squishy. I am wondering why there isn't a recall on this due to Honda has a tech bulletin out for this problem. I have had 2 out of the 3 fixed, those aren't very good odds. I plan on taking in this van and see if they will replace it.

I was driving my 2007 Honda Odyssey. As I was coming to a stop, I became involved in an accident. Over the recent weeks I thought it was taking longer to stop my van, but had my van in for service the week before. I was assure that everything was fine and all fluid levels were correct. ***note: On my first service visit the service adviser told me that I should not be concerned about brake fluid levels that the van would notify me when it was time to replace the breaks and that the van was designed to do so. The police were called to the scene of the accident. I could not explain the accident and the officer coaxed me in to saying that I had been distracted. I was in shock. My son was in the car with me and I could not think much of anything else other than whether he was safe. I believe I had come to a complete stop then hit the vehicle in front of me. My airbags did not deploy. Ever since the accident I have continued to notice that I must press the brake pedal all the way to the floor at times to stop the van and other times I don't in normal driving circumstances. All along I had believed the dealership that everything was fine with my vehicle. Now I have damages to pay and a ticket I am facing as a result of what I believe to be break failure. I will be making a follow-up report with my local police department, faxing a copy other similar break failure complaints to my insurance company, contacting Honda and hopefully will be able to get some answers on the problem with my van.
