About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
Third row seats do not latch properly when converting from stow away position to upright seating position. One must align the latching mechanism requiring one to first lift the seat from the rear, then move to the front of the seat in the cabin and physically align the latching mechanism. This procedure is done while the vehicle is not in motion. This deficiency was first noticed with passengers seated and the vehicle in motion as inertia caused the seat to rock backwards upon acceleration. This is clearly not the design intention. This occurs everytime the seat is converted. The date on this form is not applicable.

When the second row seats are folded down (ie. Some one enters the third row).to return the seat to the original position you have to lean over the seat to release the mechanism, which sends the seat back up violently causing a blow to the head and face and breaking glasses, let alone a severe headache. This has happened on several occasions to several people. Please check if others have reported this safety situation. This occurs with second row captains seats.

My child folded down the third row seat in my 2008 Honda Odyssey and the seat collapsed and fell on his hand, breaking three of his fingers. I contacted Honda and nothing was done.
