On my car there was a recall on the fuel pump filter housing. I've been to a dealer with this where they didn't replace the case. The car started to smell like gasoline. I opened the pump cover and saw a crack in the pump filter housing(is in the picture).I reported it to the dealer(honda Hamilton NJ) but they dismissed me saying it was not their problem because they did not replace the part. I reported it to honda usa where after three weeks they told me the same thing. On their website it clearly states "HONDA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL FILTER SET ON THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY...". My question is why they don't replace the filter housing when it says it's a fire hazard. Thank You

The contact owns a 2008 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that there was an engine leak in one of the fuel valves which then leaked onto the alternator. Due to the failure, the vehicle would shut off at random speeds without warning. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where they diagnosed the vehicle with a leaking spool valve cover. The contact spoke with the manufacturer who informed her that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

Reference campaign id: 14V112000. Affects 888,000+ Honda Odyssey mini-vans built between 2005 to 2010. Recall issue: Fuel pump cover may crack & leak fuel. Fuel pump is located in center rear of auto. A smell of gasoline is present after the mini-van has been running. Complaint: VIN for 2008 Honda Odyssey showing 0 (zero) recall issues unattended. However, the fuel pump cover on this Odyssey is leaking. Possible causes: 1) recall notice and service to replace fuel pump cover was not issued; 2) replacement fuel pump cover service was performed but was not installed properly, or has failed again. Honda was supposed to replace fuel pump cover w/ improved version that was designed to eliminate this problem. If an original part replacement cover was installed as part of the recall, this was to be considered temporary until the improved version was available, Honda was to notify owners and replace the fuel pump cover w/ improved version. What remedies/actions are available?

I contacted Honda concerning this campaign original https://static.NHTSA.gov/ODI/rcl/2014/rcrit-14V112-7697.pdf most recent version https://static.NHTSA.gov/ODI/rcl/2014/rcrit-14V112-5917.pdf for the fuel filter cover cracking that results in a fuel leak/smell inside the vehicle, especially when the tank is full. Honda was very unhelpful in explaining why my vehicle was not covered, even after admitting that my vehicle was produced in the factory identified in the original tsb (Alabama plant). Https://autoweek.com/article/car-news/has-your-Honda-Odyssey-been-recalled now my family is left in a dangerous, unsafe situation in which Honda refuses to bear the cost of replacement nor explain why my vehicle is not covered by the recall; rather they are trying to extract hundreds of dollars to "investigate" and correct a well known, documented issue. They claim they are unable to explain why my vehicle is uncovered, even though it was manufactured in the problem facility, using the problem parts. Can someone at NHTSA help me to understand why my vehicle, which should be covered under this campaign, is not and how to correct the situation. As mentioned Honda was completely unhelpful. I do not plan to purchase a Honda again based on this experience. Thank you.

For some reason my particular van is not included in at least 2 recalls where other same year Odyssey are included. These all have the same engine, transmission and fuel system. My van was diagnosed by a mechanic as having a fuel pump module leak, which is recalled for some 2008 odussseys, but curiously not for mine. The same situation exists for the tailgate stay gas leakage, again, also recalled on some 2008 Odyssey but not all.

I don't have the exact dates of when this started, but the Odyssey started consuming enough oil around 2011 that I had to add it between changes. Then in the last few years, it's gotten to the point where you can smell the oil burning and sometimes the exhaust is gray, a dead-tell of burning oil. Now it will not pass smog as of Dec 2017. When I was looking for information about the smoking, I found out about the lawsuit and settlement - we never got any indication that there was a settlement about the excess oil consumption and our van could be fixed by Honda, even back when it was just using a lot of oil, but not smoking visibly yet. Now we have to get it fixed to pass ca smog, but Honda is making us go through multiple 1000 mile consumption tests to prove there is a problem despite the fact that you can see and smell the burning oil in addition to the excess oil usage. This problem is a lot wider than Honda has admitted to, and they did not notify all owners about the lawsuit settlement because we never got a card, despite getting notices about other warranty recalls, etc. I noted that this started in 2011, but it's ongoing, getting worse and culminating with failing smog testing in 2017 for burning oil.

The car keeps giving a "tighten fuel cap" warning..I have checked and replaced the fuel cap with a Honda GEM fuel cap and I still get the warning...I have read that there is a seal on the fuel tank/pump assembly that perishes which must surely be a fire/explosion hazard. This warning light comes on intermittently when the car is at idle or moving and stays on fairly constantly.
