About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda Odyssey. The contact's vehicle was repaired according to NHTSA campaign numbers: 14V112000 (fuel system, gasoline) and 13V500000 (electrical system). After the repairs were completed, the contact found bolts that were left in the cupholder. The dealer stated that the bolts belonged to another vehicle. The contact was concerned that the repairs were not performed adequately. The failure mileage was 106,200.

The van was operating normally until parked over night in drive way. Our driveway is slightly inclined and the vehicle was parked with engine facing forward. The next morning the car started fine and was warming up. 5 minutes later it stalled out and would not restart. I had the car towed to the dealership and after 2 days they said they said they could not find a problem. About 1 month later the same exact problem occurred. The van is again scheduled for service this week. I noticed a similar posting on this web site claiming that the fuel pump is located behind the gas tank and it was designed this way. Therefore there is no fix to this claim. Knowing this detail, I went outside and put the van in neutral to let the van coast to a more level state. The vehicle then started after the 2nd attempt. I'm still going to keep the scheduled appointment for service as I feel this condition is unacceptable. I've owned 2 other Honda's (different models) and never experienced this type of condition while living at the same residence.

The contact owns a 2008 Honda Odyssey. The contact left the engine running while the vehicle was parked and it suddenly shut off. With a half a tank of fuel in the vehicle, it would not restart. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the gas tank was defective. The fuel pump is at the rear of the tank; therefore, if the vehicle is parked facing downhill, fuel cannot flow back to the vehicle for it to start. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle could not be repaired because it was designed in that manner. The failure and current mileages were 8,100.
