problem #3

Oct 122010

Odyssey LX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 8,000 miles

This should be a recall. My brother in law has a 2010 Accord and had the same problem at around 5000 miles and I just read the Oct 2012 Car and Driver with the exact problem with the odyssey review. The resurfacing required multiple fixes and still recurred. Honda must be using poor quality rotors.

problem #2

Dec 102010

Odyssey EXL 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 32,000 miles

Was told by the service advisor that because of the heat in Arizona, that was causing the rotors to warp. A little research told me that between the weight of the van and the material used on the brake pad most likely led to the warping of the rotors.

Odyssey EX

  • Automatic transmission
  • 200 miles

My 2009 Honda Odyssey has had to have the brake rotors resurfaced twice in the one year I have owned it. We bought it new with 180 miles and noticed a problem when we drove it home (from another state). I'm not sure how a brand new vehicle can already have bad breaks, but it did. Then, at 16,000 mi, they had to be resurfaced again! I asked for new rotors, but Honda would not authorize that when they could be "fixed." However, by the time the car runs out of warranty, they will need to be replaced because you can only resurface rotors so many times before they become too thin to meet specifications. I got 111,000 miles out of my first set of Toyota brakes on my 2000 Sienna, so I cannot believe that the brake issue is related to my driving - like another customer was also told. There have been recalls on brakes, but not on the 2009 model. I think it is only a matter of time before these are recalled too!
