At low speeds from 20-35 miles per hour, the vehicle ABS causes braking to fail to halt the vehicle in the anticipated distance of other cars. It takes 3.5 car lengths at 18-20 mph, which can lead to rear end collision with the vehicle in front of you. You are forced to keep double the normal number of car lengths behind the vehicle in front of you. And your front wheels start sort of 'hopping' causing partial loss of traction, during the ABS cycle that probably shouldn't be engaging. I had the same experience with my prior 2007 Honda Accord hybrid, only worsened by the various hybrid components kicking in and out, including the regen braking, and the engine cutoff, as well as the ABS and the transmission downshifting. I had two minor rear end front end accidents but frequently found myself skidding into intersections. Both vehicles also suffered from difficulty regulating speed without using the brakes, and very sensitive speed braking. Nonetheless, I think the ABS, suspension and the braking are combining to cause the vehicle to partly lose traction and leads to extended braking distances at low speed. I have not only repeatedly written and called Honda about this particular problem, I've even threatened to terminate my lease agreement over it. Honda's only response to my calls and letters since 2008 is that 'there is no outstanding recall regarding the condition you are reporting', to which my comment: "there darn well should be!" falls on very deaf corporate ears.

We bought a new 2010 Honda Odyssey from the Honda dealer last year and started to notice that the brake makes grinding sound occasionally when I step on it. And the passenger side can feel the shaking when the brake is engaged. I tool to the dealer last month. They told me the break is fine. It is probably the ABS system causing the grinding and shaking. There is no need to fix. But the problem persists and we need to get it fixed before an accident happens.

Numerous occasions of van front-end shudder that impacts the ability to maintain control of the vehicle. Taken to Honda dealer, under warranty and the dealer states it was warped rotors but the vehicle only had 20,000 miles on it (2010 model) and considered it a maintenance item and would not cover it under warranty. Repair was not made.

I too have had unintended acceleration problems w/ both my new 2010 Honda Odyssey (currently 1600 mi) and my 2005 Honda Odyssey (130000 mi when traded-in). In all cases I had engine acceleration as I tried to apply the brakes. Very scary the first time or two. I finally discovered that my foot was overhanging the brake pedal on the right (which it can easily do when braking with my right foot) and was inadvertently contacting the gas pedal. The harder I tried to brake the faster the engine accelerated. I have learned to let up on the brake & move my foot to the left. Immediate problem was solved but I believe this a design fault. More distance between the brake & gas pedals would eliminate this problem. Perhaps a redesign of the brake pedal face would be a cost effective remedy.

The contact owns a 2010 Honda Odyssey. While driving 45 mph approaching a stop sign she engaged the brakes and the pedal was soft. She had to engaged the brakes harder in order for the vehicle to stop. She stated that the failure occurred several times in one week. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer had to bleed her brakes. The failure mileage was 8,500 and the current mileage was 9,300.

This concerns a 2010 Honda Odyssey braking system. I have had numerous occurrences of the brake pedal, on initial application, going so low that I also hit the accelerator, causing the vehicle to lunge forward vigorously. When I continue to apply pressure to the brake pedal it goes all the way to the floorboard. When I release the pedal and reapply it, it gives me a harder pedal in which to get stopped. I have had the vehicle into the dealer service, and was told that they replaced the master cylinder, but the problem continued to occur. The service people at this facility do not show the concern for this as I feel they should, since this involves a condition that is of my grave concern, and I hope that I don't go there because of this defect. Please help me with this. I have also talked with Honda America and they haven't been any help.

I was driving between 30 and 40 mph on the highway in moderate traffic when traffic suddenly stopped at an off-ramp. I pushed my brake pedal all the way to the floor before feeling the brakes engage at all. It appeared that I had enough distance to stop, but my car continued to slide into the vehicle in front of me, and we were surprised to have the air bags deploying in our faces as we hit the other car. That car then hit the car in front of it. All 3 cars were undrivable. The other two drivers were transported to the hospital by ambulance, while my daughter and I had pain for 1-2 weeks following. I drove another car while my car was in the shop, and was shocked at the difference in the braking. Driving the Honda every day, I did not notice the changes in brake functioning over time. I literally had to push the pedal all the way to the floor to get the brakes to work. I just had the brake recall performed, and notice a drastic difference in stopping distance and in how little I have to push on the pedal now to get the brakes to engage. I was told by Honda that the soft brakes would have had nothing to do with my accident because it doesn't have to do with actual brake functioning.

The contact owns 2010 Honda Odyssey. While the contact was driving approximately 10 mph, the brake pedal traveled to the floor when pressure was applied. The failure occurred whenever the brake pedal was engaged. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on three different times for the identical failure. The master cylinder was replaced on the first occurrence. On the second and third occurrences air was bled out of the brake system. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 1,200.

We have a 2010 Honda Odyssey. I was looking ahead in traffic and notice the car in front of me had slam their brakes. I thought I had enough distances to stop, but my brakes locked up and I couldn't maneuver the steering wheel. I felt like I kept sliding instead of just stopping. The road conditions were dry and at dusk time during the day. The lady from the car that I barely hit, got out of her car and asked me how new was my vehicle. I told her that we had just got it. She said when I looked back to see you, you had enough room to stop but it looked like you kept sliding. She thought I should go and get my brakes checked. So I did at the same Honda dealership and they said my brakes were find. I don't think that my brakes are fine. I had a 2004 Odyssey and I felt safer with those brakes than I do with this brand new vehicle. One other thing about my vehicle since I am on here. We had taken a long trip just after we had bought the vehicle. A warning light came own. My husband looked in the manual it was in relation to emissions. It was the malfunction indicator lamp. We had called the dealership and they told us 2 things. Take it in to get it looked at the nearest Honda dealership and are we tightening our gas tank cap. So we took it to a dealership. They told us nothing was wrong. During our whole trip back we made sure our gas tank cap was tighten. To this vary day they say nothing is wrong, but the light comes and goes. They can't tell us what is wrong with it that there is nothing wrong. So I am on here concern about my family and I safety.
