Vehicle jerked lightly each and every time I stepped on the gas pedal. The vibration is more obviously when vehicle changed from stop to motion. However, the vibration can still be perceived when the vehicle is in motion. The faster the car is in motion, the less vibration perceived. The car runs smoothly if it is running at the speed 60mph or more. No check engine light. Car used lightly, parked in the garage and only has 35K on it. Oil changes performed regularly every 3K, air filter changed yearly.

Traveling in motion at 40mph than a sudden acceleration of engine and speed. Very difficult to stop with brakes. Honda Odyssey was put on neutral than brakes were applied to stop vehicle. My vehicle was on a secondary rode at the time of sudden acceleration. We called aaa to pick up our Honda Odyssey and took it to our local mechanic for the rest of the day.

Self acceleration on highway: Driving on highway (New York state thruway) I realized car (2010 Odyssey ex) was starting to speed up on its own, even with brake (foot completely off gas pedal) it was very difficult to slow down to below 55 mph: When I braked harder car shook heavily as if brake was fighting engine. Finally (within 1-2 miles) I came to a safe area to stop (a small rest-"text" stop) stopped on brake hard and pulled hand brake, and turned off engine - smoke came out of brakes. Front disk brakes were glowing orange. After brakes cooled down restarted car drove about 2 miles at 40mph - on highway to exit and checked into hotel.

The contact owns a 2010 Honda Odyssey. While traveling at various speeds with the cruise control engaged, there was a sudden increase of engine rpms. After the brakes were applied, the cruise control failed to disengage. The contact had to apply both feet to the brake pedal in order to pull over to the side of the road where the vehicle was shut off. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop to inspect and diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 34,420. Today Jan 2nd 2015 around 6:40am cst, my van engine suddenly made a loud noise with high acceleration. I was driving at the speed of 40 mile/hour where suddenly with acceleration it started increasing it speed from 40M/H to 45M/H, 50 M/H and that moment I was scared and afraid and wasn't sure what was going on as I was not driving my van in cruise control. It was very hard to break and I have to use my both the feet to break my van to bring to the complete stop. After stopping and putting my van in park, I turn off the engine wait for a minute and start the engine. Van started but as it was parked and it started accelerating and I was not able to put in drive gear. Transmission was completely lock. I called my insurance all state to arrange roadside assistance to tow my van to nearest Honda dealer. Currently it my van is at frank kent Honda dealer (34000 West loop 820 South, fort worth, tx 76116). This is very scary experience and I was driving alone at that time. I have family with 2 kids 9 & 6 year old and I am worried what might have happened if I was driving with my kids in freeway at the speed limit or in the busy street with heavy or freezing icy road. Anything might have happened and that makes me think that what NHTSA does to protect consumer, a family, a driver safety like me to protect and safeguard there life with not having proper safety standards in place to avoid this computer malfunction problem which I believe in my case. I don't want that NHTSA have to wait when many more incidence happens like this before taking any action. I want that NHTSA should take action right to work proactively to prevent this kind of incidence. I want to hear concrete answer and action taken against my complaint launch for both NHTSA and Honda. I was pulling into a parking spot. I was approximately 3-4 feet from the curb in front of me. My foot was on the brake and I was slowing to a stop when the van suddenly accelerated extremely rapidly (and was not responsive to brake application ) and slammed into the curb in front of me, causing minor damage to the front end. I verified that the floor mats were not near the accelerator.

I got into the car with my children on Jan 3rd at about 11:30 am. As we were approaching the highway on-ramp, the car suddenly stopped (brake) for absolutely no reason while I had my foot on the gas! I made a U-turn to get away from the on-ramp and go home. The car was not driving right. The car slowed/stopped 2 more times. I was on my street, when the "brakes went out". I coasted into my driveway. Smoke began billowing out of front wheel wells. When I was turning off the ignition, the vsa light came on. I didn't know if the car was on fire, so I rushed my kids out of the car and called 911. The fire department arrived while the car was still smoking, hot, and smelling. I had car towed. The dealership called and was going to get Honda involved. They could not see any problems and couldn't duplicate the event. My service advisor said that the car was "drivable", but didn't feel comfortable letting me take it. I said that I didn't feel comfortable taking it because I can?T trust its safety. January 5- I have been doing a lot of research about a very recent recall on this exact problem. There is a problem with a yaw sensor telling the vsa system to engage while the car is accelerating without the brake lights turning on. Now it all makes sense! the only problem is that my car is not named in this recall. Only 2007-2008 Honda Odyssey owners were notified. I have a 2010. According to the documents, Honda does not have the parts to fix the problem, but will explain to owners what to do in case this sudden stopping occurs. I am dumbfounded! there is not a chance that my children and I will get into that car with "instructions" in the event this happens again. It seems that the problem is not contained to 2007-2008 models. It is quite obvious that Honda needs to expand its initial recall. I think they should be warned about this potentially deadly problem.

I have just bought a 2010 Honda Odyssey on October 16, 2009. On January 16, 2010, I was driving in New York city traffic stopped at a light behind several cars. Suddenly the car's engine started to race and lurched forward even with my foot on the brake. For several seconds the car kept lurching forward as I tried to step down on the brake even harder. As suddenly the unintended acceleration stopped. I came within inches of crashing into the car in front of me. I have four passengers in the car who witnessed this event at the time.
