Odyssey EX 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 33,000 miles

I purchased an "extended" warranty when we purchased this vehicle with 30000+ miles. After a few months noticed a sound when turning to the right. Brought it in and they told me it wasn't anything, but tightened something in the front right end. Noise stopped for a few months and then returned. This time I was told it was "probably" a strut, and since we had an "extended warranty" just wait until it gets worse.

Finally, it got so annoying that I brought it in and they said they would replace ONE strut. I called Honda America and was told that this one NOT the normal way of fixing this problem, that THEY recommend BOTH struts to be repaired. After many phone calls between Honda America and Cramer Honda of Venice, it was determined because this was covered under Cramer's extended warrantee, only ONE strut would be replaced. After a month, I called them back and requested to know if they had my ONE strut in. They said they would order it THAT DAY. Great service! Today, I brought it in and was informed that I would be paying for the wheel alignment, a cost of $70 but THEY would only charge me $60.

So NOW, when the other strut goes, it will AGAIN cost me $60-$70 for another alignment. BEWARE of "extended warrantees", since it is sold by the dealer, to another company. The "dealer" is then, NOT liable, for THAT warranty. Cramer Honda will no longer be our choice to buy from in the future. And as for "extended warrantees", I will buy from a third party company, since that is what I am getting anyway, FOR A HIGHER COST.

Odyssey LX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 12,000 miles

As soon as the TSB came out, they should have called me in to do the fix. Some people, not me, would hear the noise and just assume it is something normal, until it got worse and possibly beyond the warranty. I have worked on cars for decades and can hear deviations from the norm.

Update from Sep 13, 2015: Since I had it fixed, at around 15,000 miles. I have not had happen again and I am now over 46,000 miles.

Dec 152012

Odyssey EXL V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,000 miles

The left front strut / suspension creaks when turning right. The noise is especially noticeable at slow speeds. I have not yet taken this problem to the dealer as I'm waiting for the next oil change. It's getting really annoying so I may not wait.

Odyssey Touring V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 10 miles

So we have this beautiful wonderful new Odyssey Touring, From moment one the right front suspension has been making a creaking noise everytime you turn either way at low speeds, like parking, going into a driveway, or sitting in the dealership and turning the wheel back and forth. We took it in to Hopkins Honda in Hopkins MN and they acknowledged the noise and indicated that they would replace the strut. Instead they replaced all the parts around the strut without telling us. So of course the problem persisted. We took it back in and they said they need to replace the strut, deja vu all over again! So this time they did replace the strut and all seemed quiet for about 50 miles. Then "it's baaaacckk". it gets worse as time goes by and makes the van sound like an old GMC truck after 200,000 miles. So we go into the dealer next week for the third try and I'm going to ask that a technical serrvice rep from Honda be available. I've seen other complaints on other sites for this same issue.
