This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Honda dealer.
I have taken the car in several times for the surging and lurching forward when taking off, but it never gets fixed. I even tried using TSB that appears to be directly related, but it still didn't fix it.

2012 Honda Odyssey Elite with 6 Speed Auto Transmission.
After coming to a stop, the vehicle hesitates then lurches abruptly from a stop when the accelerator pedal is pushed. Honda is aware of the problem, but per my dealer, there is no fix and nothing will be done by Honda until the problem it is widely reported by owners. There is a Technical Service Bulletin that applies to some Odysseys, but not all based on the VIN range (not mine, even though the dealer initially claimed to have applied the TSB, but later admitted they did not.) The TSB does not fix the hesitation and lurching problem.
I urge (hell, I plead) all Honda Odyssey 2011 to 2014 owners experiencing this and other transmission problems to contact Honda Automobile Customer Service and ask that a customer service (complaint) file be opened and remain open until the problem is fixed. Beware that if you do not respond to the customer service representative's weekly check-in call on the problem, Honda will want to close the file and consider the issue resolved. Until a sufficient number of Odyssey owners complain and keep their files open, Honda will not take action to fix a nuisance and safety problem that my dealer has been unable to resolve for over a year.

Ever since I received this car, which was a corporate leased vehicle, so I never actually drove it before leasing it, it has hesitated during initial acceleration. It has not improved. Apparently there's a service bulletin from September 2012. When you start to pull out, the car kinda jerks and jutters. It's like it's switching between gears back and forth. I currently have the van in for service today and only a select few vans have this problem. When I first reported the issue to the dealership, they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Today they say there's a legitimate issue and they know how to repair it. I will update this complaint once I receive it back. I'm posting here because I felt like I was crazy about the problem. My husband experienced it too. So if you have this issue, please report it to the dealership and mention the service bulletin.

We purchased the vehicle brand new, and my wife complained about it even during the first year of ownership. I did not realize this was happening to others as well and is not uncommon. We also had the odyssey in for a major recall involving the piston heads and miss firing, the dealer service tech said that the recall SHOULD fix the hesitation when accelerating but alas the problem still exist. Honda if you are out there, please address this issue.
