About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
Purchased 2012 Honda Odyssey with 49K miles, looked like new inside and out, dealership prepped vehicle, including new tires, a few minor repairs were needed, requested everything be gone over, vehicle safety was a priority. I gave them an additional month to order parts and to take their time to make sure all was completed properly. Discovered the new all season tires were really dedicated Michelin winter tires as I am driving all summer, highway interstate. They didn't replace the corroded, leaking TPMS senor/valve stems, they left the original ones in. While on an out of state trip, the pressure warning light came on. Also discovered the(2) safety latch recalls from Honda were still open as I am driving my kids and other students in our van. The dealership salesman ensured me all would be taken care of as he had children himself. He was sending the vehicle to a Honda dealership for the key cylinder replacement. Turns out the vehicle had 3 open recalls. Non repaired and they assured me they had been fixed. They marketed the van as a local trade in, later to find out the dealership purchased the van at an out of state auction. I had to put new all season tires on and replaced the leaking TPMS units, they refused to acknowledge the issues as I had repairs completed at a Honda dealership and Subaru reimbursed me for the small repairs, but refused to acknowledge the tires or TPMS units, dismissing additional questions. There is no love or safety at this Subaru dealership. All documentation has been filed with the Ohio attorney general complaint. A big question is about the vehicles history from an auction and what else has been covered up and not disclosed.

The front left axle is wobbling and begins at higher speeds. The boot on he wheel has become cracked and is now leaking. Had the car inspected and the boot is definitely leaking and their is definite play in the axle. My sister has the same van and hers did the exact same thing. Very dangerous. Feel like this should be a manufacturing warranty issue since I have found several other Honda Odyssey owners who have the same issues. Happens on city and highway, makes knocking noise when turning even at lower speeds.

When doing down hill on the fwy about 65 miles the brakes start to shake and vibrate. Which is very scary. I have read online everyone is having the same issue problem and Honda is refusing to fix it. They stated the router needs to be resurface but this is only 16000 miles on the car.. which makes no sense.

Tpm(tire pressure monitor) light indicating low pressure when there is no error. Dealer (san marco, Texas) claims the issue is due to cell phone charger interference with tpm system. Dealer claims Honda is aware of the issue and sent out a service bulletin to limit the cell phone charger to less than twenty minutes to prevent the tpm fault code and dash light from being set. In my professional option, Honda America has what is known as a 'conductive electro-magnetic interference" issue with their system. Based on what has been communicated, I believe there is an elementary design flaw with their system that allows either the transmitted energy or internal generated signals of cell phone to be coupled into their system using the battery lines.

My 6 month pregnant wife was driving our van from work to home and was on a state highway driving at approximately 55 mph. The right rear tire burst out catastrophically causing the vehicle to go out of control for a brief moment before she managed to pull over to the shoulder. The vehicle has less than 15 K miles and is less than 2 years old. The tires are Continental make that came with the new car. The vehicle (and the tires) has been maintained as required by the car maker and the last tire rotation and re balance was performed approximately 1 month prior to the incident. We strongly believe this is a major manufacturing defect with the tire and this was a safety related event that could potentially have caused a crash. We have further details of tire if needed.

2012 Honda Odyssey has a shuttering at various speeds. This seems most prevalent around 40+ miles per hour, however, it can happen at varying speeds. I have set an appointment with Honda dealer (lehigh valley Honda for Tuesday, January 31. I was informed by the service consultant that this is a known issue, but that there is no fix for this at this time. I filed a complaint with Honda motor corporation regarding this issue. This van is approximately two weeks old and experiencing this shuttering problem. You can feel the vibrations in the steering wheel and in the drivers seat. Additionally, you can hear it as long as you are in a quiet environment. Please investigate as other consumers seem to be experiencing this same issue regarding model years 2011 & 2012. Thank you.
