Odyssey EXL V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 45,000 miles

This is exactly what happened to my odyssey, Was parked in front of the house and the glass shattered, was thinking someone might have blasted it with the baseball bat, but after reading all the complaints here, thinking i might be wrong and its the PROBLEM which HONDA needs to look into...

Called up my insurance and they said i have to pay $500 deductible which is ridiculous..

rear hatch window shattered rear hatch window shattered rear hatch window shattered rear hatch window shattered

Yesterday at 2:54pm, I was standing on my front porch, (My Odyssey was parked in my driveway). It was a fairly decent day, High of 70 degrees. I hadn't driven my car since 7:30am, when I dropped my kids at daycare. Out of no where there was a loud pop from my car and my rear window (the one on the hatch) exploded. Nothing was near it. I live at the end of the culdesac. There was no report of a firearm, no one near my car, nothing in the car. It just exploded. I called the dealer to see if my warranty would cover it. They told me, bring it in Monday at 8am and we will take pictures to send to the warranty company to get a decision on whether they will cover it or not. Nevermind that I live near Jacksonville, NC., one of the most rainy places I've ever lived and they forcast rain for sunday and monday. Meanwhile, I have been looking around online and have found that this same thing has happened to many other people. Some of the instances, people had kids in the car when it happened. One kid will have many plastic surgeries in his future. This problem seems to go back all the wall to 2004 models and not only effects the Odyssey models but other Honda models as well. Why has there not been a recall or warning or something for this? I believe I will be getting some clearish window tint put on all of the glass in my car, regardless of what Honda says, I'd rather be safe, than sorry. Not worth the risk of injury to my children if I don't. Hopefully, they will do the right thing and replace this rear windshield for free with one that won't just spontaniously explode.
