This is a beautiful vehicle. The brakes didn't bother me, but I didn't know any better. I had to brake from 60 mph to a stop and could still do it before hitting the car in front of me. The brake vibrated and so did the steering wheel, but I'd grown accustomed to it. Fast forward to Dec. 27, 2024, when a guy hit me in the front panel/wheel passenger side. My van was repaired and the tech who's worked on my cars for 30 years said my brake pedal was almost to the floor and spongy. He also said the problem had to do with the abs/vbs modulator, but he couldn't fix it as it was a computerized part that only a Honda dealership had the software to program the part.
Off to the dealership I drove with great care because now I realized how dangerous the van's brake system was. The master cylinder was replaced with the fluid flush and bleeding out of the air. The brake pedal was no longer on the floor! (Cost of repair was $1000.) But the brake itself was still spongy. Even though I told the dealership service guy, William (name changed), about the modulator, he brushed it off. A day and a half later, he said his techs found that it was the modulator. William said the modulator is $1500 and that the last one was sold to a person in Texas! I contacted HondaFactoryAutoparts.com and they said it was nationally backordered. Here I sit with a van I can't drive safely needing a part that is nowhere in the country which will cost $1500 if and when it arrives!
