1st incident Fall 2023 Approaching a stop sign, decelerating from 30mph I pressed on the brake to complete the stop but the engine roared, RPMs revved, & the vehicle accelerated, better it lurched, forward. I mashed down the brake pedal as hard as I could but it would not stop the vehicle. All I could do was put it into park. Happens almost weekly, at least 7 times, but not predictably. Once in December, I was approaching a four way stop sign around 3:30pm, I had been driving the vehicle for approximately 30 minutes & the weather was good (no ice, partly cloudy, roads clear & dry). As I came to the stop sign, pressing the brake the final time to complete the stop, it roared loudly, the RPMs jumped high, and the vehicle surged forward through the intersection. I let off the brake and tried to smash it down again, but it wouldn-??t go to the floor (only a mild decompression) so I powered through the intersection, thank God no one was coming. I didn-??t pull over or turn the vehicle off, I continued going my way home. 15 minutes later, turning into my driveway the brakes worked normally, like nothing had happened. [XXX] I took it to a Honda dealership. They upgraded the transmission & flushed the transmission lines three times. They were unable to replicate the issue & could not detect any codes or communication of an issue in the system. I took it home with no answers. [XXX] I was approaching a stoplight to turn left. I was driving, my brother was in the passenger seat. Weather conditions were good: clear skies, no ice/rain/snow, roads dry & clear. I had been driving the vehicle for less than 10 minutes & I had given it ~ 5 minutes to -??warm up-?? since it-??s Minnesota. I met a stop sign w/o issue, but then as I approached a nearby stoplight it surged forward just like before. I pressed the brake to complete the stop, the engine roaring so loudly my brother said -??it-??s gonna blow up!-?? Back to Honda dealership on [XXX]. Still no resolution. Can-??t replicate INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION

UNKNOWN white pearl paint started peeling under the window of the back hatch. It peeled off like a sheet in a 3-?? by 3-?? area. The van is well cared for and is parked under a covered carport. Clearly, it is a manufacturing defect that should not be happening.

. We were driving on a freeway in rural Minnesota at around 70 mph when the tire pressure monitor lit up. There were no warning lights before that.We started to slow down and suddenly the dashboard lit up with multiple warning lights and the engine stuttered and quit. Fortunately we were going downhill and managed to coast onto an exit (without benefit of power steering or power brakes) and coasted onto the ramp shoulder. After we stopped, the battery seemed to have power; the starter motor would begin to operate but it would stop in less than a second, the car would not restart and the dashboard showed warnings about the ESC and ABS in addition to other warnings. When a tow truck finally arrived, we described the symptoms and the tow truck driver instantly said "It's the alternator". He connected a measuring device to the battery, the car started and ran briefly and he confirmed that the problem was a defective alternator. The dealer replaced the alternator fixing the problem. No other repair was needed. Clearly the alternator failure glitched the computer and caused the car to shut down. The fact that the tow truck driver instantly identified the problem from our verbal description is evidence that this is a rather common problem--even if it is not frequently reported. The catastrophic alternator failure in our Honda Odyssey could have caused a very serious accident. We were very lucky that we were able to coast to a safe place. Every car should be fail-safe in case of an alternator failure! I have experienced two other on-the-road alternator failures in the past. In both cases I received a red warning light and the car continued to operate on existing battery charge until I reached a safe place.

2014 White Diamond Pearl Paint Peeling on roof section by both passenger doors. Although Honda Service Bulletin 19-057 extension of warranty has expired for those who are experiencing paint problem. But many of the vehicle owners with White Diamond Pearl NH-603P paint is now seeing the problem surfacing. NHTSA shall require Honda to have another extension of paint warranty.

Exterior paint peeling under rear window. Huge flap of paint, like a thin piece of paper flapping in the wind all of a suddent on my 2014 White EXL Honda Odyssey. I have reported issue and will take to dealership to get estimate cost to repair. Will report progress. I am a loyal Honda customer starting with my 1995 Honda Civic ex, then size dup to a CRV, and now my Odyssey which I've had for 9 years. I'm extremely disappointed with this paint issue.

While this isn't a real "safety" issue, Honda customer service referred me here to complain. There is an existing extended warranty on the peeling 2014 Odyssey white pearl paint, but only for the roof and liftgate. The paint on my vehicle is peeling there... but also on the upper portion of one of the sliding doors. It is peeling off of the primer in exactly the same way as the other areas, and actually started peeling there first, but is not covered under the warranty extension again, not a safety issue... just an unhappy customer complaint.

I have a pearl white 2014 Honda Odyssey. The paint is peeling under the back glass window near the wiper blades, due to manufacture poor job of painting. This was reported from different people who have the same problems with this model and color. This us a manufacturer problem since people are complaining and frustrated that it's not taken care by Honda. I've tried back in May 2020 with an email to Honda and asked to take a look but was never called back. I didn't want to go in bc of covid 19. Very disappointed. I have a 2004 Pilot, never had an issue with paint peeling for no reason.

Paint peeling off the tailgate while in motion on a Suburban street. The paint that delaminated ended up on the back window while driving, blocking some of the window above the tailgate. Had to pull over and peel off the window. It wasn't a large blockage but it was enough to notice and surprising. I wish I had gotten a photo of the paint on the windshield but didn't think to do that. Was more concerned about safety. Honda knows about the paint peeling issue but will not discuss it and referred to the dealer. Dealer says it's a known issue but Honda will not fix due to VIN not being eligible in their database. Why it's not eligible, since it's the same make, model, year and paint color as all the other Odyssey with this issue, I do not know.

Parked on a very hot day in a parking lot the electric doors won't open. If I drive the van for a minute or two and stop, the doors will work. This is an intermittent problem. Honda can not find the problem. On the internet, other people have the same issue with their Honda vehicles. One person wrote that he replaced the power on off switch on the dash that controls the doors even though his vehicle showed no computer code errors. He said that so far it solved his problem. Honda only looks for computer code error and if there is no error, they say there is no problem.

On June 21, 2019 my family was returning home from the beach (pcb), and about 3 hours into the trip on us 431 North, around 1 pm we heard a loud boom or pop on the roof. Sound like a shot gun according to wife. We pulled over and sunroof had 16 inch seem crack across the sunroof. One side of cracked glass was raised about 1/4 inch. We continued to drive 25 mph on shoulder as we where in nowhere, Alabama. About 3 or 4 minutes later we stopped and 1 X 4" glass hole in sunroof. We continued driving and within minutes the hole became a 1 ft X 2 ft hole in sunroof. Had to have it towed. We passed no cars or overpass's when sunroof exploded for no reason. No houses or businesses within 5 miles according to seale police officer.

The "standard seat assembly" as defined by fig-1A of FMVSS 213 defines seat/seat-belt geometry such that a seatbelt buckle shall not extend beyond175mm (~6in) from the seat bight. The standard seems to allow car manufacturers to utilize seat belt buckle assemblies anywhere in the 0 to 175mm range from the bight. A bight-to-buckle (B2B) distance of 175mm makes it difficult (or impossible) to properly secure child car seats, using the vehicle's seat belt, if the child seat depth is shallower than 175mm. This hypothesis was developed after I was unable to properly secure a diono radian rxt car seat (forward facing mode) in my 2014 Honda Odyssey. The buckles in the Honda (see attached) appear to be close to the 175mm threshold. However, I was able to secure the same diono seat in my 2007 Audi A6 because the Audi's buckles are flush mounted in the seat cushion (I.e. B2B of ~0mm). I do not believe this problem is a "Honda" problem, but a problem with the lack of specificity of FMVSS-213 wrt how child seats are to be tested. FMVSS 213 S6.1.2 simply states that the "standard seat assembly" is to be used, and makes no mention of ensuring compatibility of fit throughout the B2B range. The diono manual (see pg-19, attached) indicates that their seats are not compatible with "...anchor points forward of the seat crease." I reviewed other child car seat manufacturer instruction manuals and found similar warnings. While the Honda seat belts contain FMVSS-209 certification tags, and the diono is labeled with FMVSS-213 tags, I believe that these two standards are not compatible. Recommendations: (1)update "standard seat assembly" of FMVSS-213 such that B2B is explicitly fixed at 175mm or (2) FMVSS-209 must restrict B2B< 25mm. FMVSS-209 S4.1.E only specifies, "...buckle or buckles readily accessible to the occupant to permit his easy & rapid removal..."

While traveling northbound on mountain view corridor at approximately 55 mph the sunroof in my 2014 Honda Odyssey exploded. I have traveled this road many times, it was a beautiful day with mild temperatures and light traffic. I bought this Odyssey new. It currently has just over 69,000 miles on it. There were no homes, businesses, parking lots, or anything of the kind around me. No overpasses, power lines or otherwise. There is no explanation for the explosion. I heard a loud pop that I thought was a gunshot or large something hitting my car. I pulled off the road, turned on my hazards, and felt something hit my arm. I looked up to see that the sunroof had shattered. I've never heard of anything like this before. After reading online that many others had had similar experiences I felt like I needed to report it in hopes that others might not have to have the same scary experience (which could have ended much worse), inconvenience, and expense.

My complaint has to do with low tire pressure indicator and tire pressure (TPMS) monitor. The experience we have since the vehicle was purchased is that if the former light appears and you replace the affected tire with a spare tire, the latter light (TPMS) will appear it will disable the part. Once the spare is replace with a new tire, the former light comes back and stays on until the part is replaced. It has happened to us twice. Honda warranty does not cover the part or labor to replace it.

My sliding doors do not work correctly and not even sure if they are latching properly. There is a major electric issue with this vehicle and Honda is unwilling to address it, there is numerous places on the internet of the same door issues!!! give a place to send videos, I have about 10 I can send where you can clear see that the doors and electrical are not working. Also since this is electrical I am on my 3rd battery for this 2014 vehicle, if you test the battery while in car it will test at about 1300+ cranking amps, which the dealership can not explain. Take the battery of of the car and it tests correctly and by more company.. clearly an electrical issue. The sliding doors will not open under power of the car often, it is as if there is no power going to the door, switches, or the key fab. I do have younger children in the vehicle and do not feel safe and should be investigated.

Coming down mcdonalds pass, the van was going faster than I wanted, 50 or 60 miles per hour so I tapped the brakes to slow down on clear blacktop, no ice. When I did, the front end wheels shimmied each time I tapped the breaks. It scared me, because if it had been icy, I could not have slowed down at an appropriate speed to get to a safer speed. I was able to eventually slow down, but the front end kept shimmying each time I tapped the brakes going down the steep hill and there were curves in the road as well.
