This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Honda dealer.
I was the owner of a 2014 Honda Oddyssey and bought this car brand new on June 30th 2014. At 500 miles I noticed a rattling noise coming from under the hood when I was driving at low speeds. Called the Honda dealership and they told me that when I can make it happen with the rattling noise to call over and make an appt and a tech would ride with me. So for the next 2000 miles the car just started rattling more and more and more under the hood as well as the transmission slipping that I could feel it under my feet with the thud. So, if you were driving anywhere from 20 to 25 miles an hour at around 1500 rpm's and the eco light kicked on the rattling would start. Once eco light went off rattling stopped. Several times the transmission just thumped and slipped.
A couple time I was at a complete stop and left off the brake to coast forward and the car would jump forward and felt like someone hit me from behind when it was the car doing that. The tech at Honda heard it and told me that he could not fix it and it was the engine. So brand new car and you cannot fix it is what I told him. He told me to turn my radio up so I could not hear the rattle and also told me to stop driving like a grandma since the Odysseys were meant to pound. So going thru developments, school zones, parking lots you tromp on it......nice answer. They told me that it will take a while for this to happen but they can call a Honda rep and with them on the phone hook the car up to a computer and see what it shows. I might add that at no time did any engine lights come on. I told him that the only time the issues happen is when you are driving it and since there are no lights coming on showing any issues this would be a waste of my time and you would have my car more than I will.
Left there and drove to a Toyota dealership and traded it in on a 2014 Toyota Sienna, which I absolutely love by the way so far. I took a $6000 loss on the Odyssey because the Honda dealership I bought it from would not budge past the $24500 trade. I was furious but what am I to do. They know there are issues and they took $6000. So my choices were to keep the car and have issues down the road, which mind you are covered by a warranty, or trade it in. I had already saw all the complaints on this site prior to going to Honda service where I bought the car so I knew that it was nothing they were going to fix or care about. I went to the actual showroom at Honda where I bought the car to get the GAP insurance back and the extended warranty money back with printouts of the issues from this site and their response was they cannot help the way their engines are designed. Oh my, if that is designing of an engine.
I have never in my life experienced anything like this before with a brand new car. So why is Honda still manufacturing these engines if they know there are issues. Why could Honda have stood by the car I traded in and not taken so much from me as a loss. I will never, never, never buy another Honda again of any kind. And I am writing this to spread the word to stay away unless you want in the same situation as I was as well as others. I just wish I would have done my research before buying the Honda Odyssey.

The intermittent vibrations occur when the van is in eco mode. If the van had done this during the test drive I would have bought a different brand, (probably the Toyota Sienna).

jerking, kicking, slipping, check engine lights, blinking d
/We've brought our brand new Odyssey EXL into the shop four times already to fix the transmission problems we started experiencing at 700 miles. The car kicks and jerks in low gears to the point it's not drivable. You have to stop the car wherever you are - even if you're on the highway - and turn it back on again to be able to accelerate or drive without constant jerking. The first time we brought it in, our dealership did an inspection and said everything looked OK. The second time, several check engine lights came on including TPS and another. They took it in for several days and replaced a valve in the transmission. The third time we brought it in, they couldn't figure out what the problem was because there was no record of it in the drive log. The fourth time, several more check engine lights came on - this was the worst failure yet - and they're keeping it until they can get instructions from Honda North America on what to do. We're ready to call the lemon law. What an incredibly time-consuming, disappointing start to our car ownership. We bought this car with the intention of going on family roadtrips and things, and yet don't feel safe driving it out of a 15 mile radius... I barely feel safe driving it to work with the kids in the car, but really have no choice. The worst car purchase ever. I'm probably never buying a Honda again!

Bought this van used for my wife and it seemed OK at first, but then it started running rough and progressively got worse. We had an extended warranty, so I took it to a reputable shop and they worked on it for a couple of days and determined that it was the transmission and was still under the Honda warranty. Took it to the Honda dealership and they had it for less than 1-day and told me it was partially fixed.
I asked them what was wrong and this is what I got from them:
1.) They state that this problem is very common on the 2014 Touring and Touring Elite vans (so don't let your dealer tell you something different).
2.) They flushed the transmission with clean fluid and this seems to have corrected the issue.
3.) They also stated that Honda is working on a Programming Fix that should be available in a few weeks. They will call me when they can re-program the van.
