A spool valve leak occurred leaking oil onto the alternator which caused it to fail when driving. When it failed, electrical systems started to shut down. At first, the ABS system indicator lit up. Multiple systems started to fail soon thereafter. Upon pulling over on the freeway, the vehicle was unable to go in reverse. The root cause was a spool valve leak that is well known and consequently puts drivers at risk when driving at high speeds. When driving down the interstate, all the electrical systems started to shut down. The ABS system was the first indicator, along with multiple electrical systems soon thereafter. Once pulled over, the vehicle could not go in reverse as well. I now understand this to be a well known issue as published in Honda Technical Service Bulletin TSB [XXX] However, no information was sent to owners even though Honda has known about the issue since at least March 2020. This puts unnecessary safety risks for those driving with oil leaking onto the alternator resulting in electrical system shutdowns and issues driving. I believe a recall and safety notice should be issued. Yes, the component was inspected by Honda and replaced. The first indicator was the ABS system warning light along with many other systems shutting down. This occurred at a high-rate of speed on the freeway. Upon pulling over, the vehicle also could not go in reverse. I am frustrated Honda has known abut this issue for many years, but has not informed owners nor offered to correct the issue leading to safety issues and costly repairs. Rear passenger sliding door power system failed causing the door to be stuck in the open position on 2 occasions. The driver's side rear sliding door has also done the same. The cause is the nylon rollers on the door wear out and cause the door to pull unevenly which in turn cause pulley system and cabling to pull at an unnatural angle in the mechanism/drive motor causing the door to be inoperable. This causes the door to not be able to be opened or closed in the immediate instance which this happens. This causes the vehicle to be undrivable until the cables are cut allowing the door free flow alng the track manually without restriction. At a later date and time, the nylon rollers have worn out to the extent that the passenger side rear door has become uneven in the track making the door inoperable at any time as the door is unable to be opened completely. This is both an annoyance that only the driver rear door is operational as well as a safety hazard causing the only exit of the rear of vehicle to be into the traffic side of the vehicle when stopped on a road, school drop-off, parked along a curbside, etc. This is an ongoing and known issue to Honda, which has a highly priced replacement process in order to correct this issue which includes replacing the rollers with metal rollers as well as a new logic board and a new motor to replace the failed system.

After driving a few miles under normal conditions we parked our minivan in our parking spot behind our house. While getting out of the minivan there was an odor and a tiny bit of smoke from the engine compartment. After waiting a couple minutes the smoke seemed to go away. We left the minivan parked and about 10-20 minutes later it started on fire and we received a call from our neighbors that the fire department had been called and they were putting out the fire. I am uploading a picture of the burnt minivan and the last service record for a regular oil change on 12/29/2018

The sliding door on the driver's side slammed shut when I pushed the close button. If it were operating in manual mode, I would have been prepared for this, and luckily it was only me operating this door in this instance, however, the force with which it shut, unexpectedly, because one tiny electrical wire, which apparently controls the whole thing, became disconnected somehow, was enough to scare me quite a lot about having my children operate these doors in the future, which seems ridiculous - I should be comfortable with the idea of my child being able to safely operate their door. (we were parked facing slightly downhill in our driveway).

The van has power sliding doors. Ever since it was new, we have had problems with the doors not closing. We have been told several times by the dealer that it is because we live on gravel. I finally took the van apart myself and found that the rubber coating had come off the cable that closes the door and bunched up and would let it slide freely. I bought a new and within a month it was doing the same thing. The coating was coming off. We just took it back to Honda and were told again it was dust but the coating is coming off the other side and jamming it up too. My wife hit a deer recently and this is where the problem is. The power door wouldn't slide and when you put it on manual mode which shuts the doors off, it won't slide either and my wife had to climb over the front seat and get my son out of his seat. If this was an emergency situation I don't know what would happen. Worst part, my wife says that it has never worked and she asked Honda about it and they said it was because we live on gravel. Now that our warranty is up, they want to sell us a bunch of new parts. I just ask that someone look into this problem because of the safety factor. I consider myself to be pretty strong and I can't sit on the inside the van and force it open so I don't know what my kids would do if something happened to my wife if there was an accident.

The contact owns a 2015 Honda Odyssey. While driving various speeds or while the vehicle was parked, the passenger side view mirror camera failed to display images on the interior monitor when the passenger side turn signal was activated. Also, the rearview camera grid failed to display on the monitor when in reverse. The vehicle was taken to mcconnell Honda (2840 eastern blvd, montgomery, al 36116 (334) 271-2500) four times, but the cause of the failure could not be diagnosed. The dealer stated that when the exterior temperature was hot, the cameras would fail to operate correctly. A diagnostic was performed, which was unable to locate a failure code. The manufacturer was notified, but did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 17,000.

The contact owns a 2015 Honda Odyssey. While driving approximately 32 mph and approaching a red light, the motor stopped and all the electrical functions seized. The contact maneuvered the vehicle to the side of the road. The vehicle was turned off, restarted, and returned to normal. The failure recurred once. The contact scheduled a repair appointment with the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 12,176.

When I tried starting the car several times it wants to turn off and on by itself. The instrument panel lights flick on and off while this is happening. The whole electrical system glitches and the car engine wants to "turn over" then shut off. I have to push the start/stop button on the dash to stop it.

We were driving down a main road speed approx 45mph, it was 90-94 degrees out so ac was on and it was a severe rain storm. We had just left the highway and were on a main road highly traveled. We noticed it was warm in the car and the ac was blowing hot. All the sudden it was fogging the windows on the inside. We had to pull over to the shoulder in the middle of a storm because we could not see and with the defroster on it was fogging the window worse. We had our 2 children in the back of the van who were scared out of their wits we would be rear ended during the storm. We managed to find a towel wipe the window and pull into a tire/oil change place up the road. They checked the car and said due to the rain the ac condensor stopped working and we had an electrical issue they could not fix. We would need the dealer in the morning. When we woke in the am the van had dried and the ac worked again we returned home and took to our local dealer with an appt 07/03/15 who advised us since it works now their is nothing we can do. We live in a state that rains daily and are afraid to drive the car in the rain now. Dealer states it is not covered under lemon law as it was not life threatening, lack of visibilty to us is life threatening. Please look into this.

Security alarm going off at random times. Initially, unlocked and locked with remote. It went off again multiple time by itself nothing touching it or any door being opened. Seems it is known wide spread issue with hood switch and other switches causing alarms. Have to leave the car unlocked over night because it went off mid night few times. Dealer said it seems it is hood switch(based on diag), but did not happen when it was at dealership. No parts available, so have to wait until parts come in.

It was little cold night. I drove on freeway for 40minutes with kids without central heating. When we got home, I wake them up.I found my young daughter at back seat, she couldn't wake up unusually. She was sleeping, leaning toward rt. Side cup holder side at back seat. I saw her face was so red like first degree burn and her hair was all wet and her body was so sweating. It was unbelievable that the whole surface next to rt. Back seat was extremely hot!!! even though the van engine was stopped. I immediately tried to her cool down. My kids told me. "ever since we bought this van, when the van's engine was turning on, back seat rt. Side body was always hot." Next morning, I took the van to Honda service. But it could not fixed for 3days and no one called me for updating info. The van is still in the service. One of technician told me from the service, it has been problems for 4years. I called Honda customer service, but no answer. I am trying to ask them buy back program. It is extremely dangerous for family with young children. This is not first time problem for this new van. I already had several problems. 1. it was not starting engine several times on the 1st week of purchase. 2. brake was completely not moving more than one hour and not starting engine together on the 2nd week of purchase in the parking lot. 3. clicking and clucking noise at rear of lt. Side with rt. Turning with brake all the times. 4. the van's horn by itself making noise for 20minutes on freeway driving. The Honda service couldn't find the causes. They just removed van's security alarm. Honda service didn't allow me for a rental van. I am expecting Honda's immediate and appropriate customer care for buy back program. Until now, this brand new van went to 9times services for 3months without fixing, 11days in the service, our family are very having hard time for normal living life with kids.

Had problems starting the vehicle earlier in the day - info display showed a warning about multiple systems and wouldn't start the engine. Honda investigated, no fault found, but "two cells in battery low." They provided a probable cause of "some light left on in the car which drained the battery" (which we knew not to be the case). Same fault occurred after leaving dealership, turned off and on a couple of times, and then it restarted. Driving home at approximately 45mph the car turned itself off - no power steering assist and no gas pedal. Managed to wrestle the car to the side of the road. Managed to start vehicle again after 5 - 10 minutes, but towed to the dealership this time.
