Vehicle began idling rough followed by check engine light flashing with solid traction control light. Had vehicle towed to dealership to repair. Diagnosed as failed piston rings which allowed oil to lead past into the combustion chamber. Estimated repair was $2,600 to replace pistons or $300 to replace the spark plugs. Similar issue occurred previously in Sept 2019.

This is an apparent on going issue with Honda Odyssey as model year 2011-2013 with same issue is covered by TSB 13-081. O rings have failed pushing oil into plugs and causing spark plug fouling/misfire. Internet research shows that this issue is happening with a number of 2014-2017 Odyssey owners. A muzzler could have helped the issue if we had known about this. Dealer quoted repair cost of $5600 which included new timing belt. I would think no additional labor would need to be charged for the belt as it has to be removed to complete repair.
Update from Jul 28, 2021: Believe I had the incorrect TSB. Should be TSB #11-033

Yesterday, I was traveling onto an on-ramp to I-70 West, and lost acceleration power. I backed the acceleration down and got the van home. I had AAA pick it up and take it to dearlship where I bought it brand new. Bill Marine dealership informed me that oil got into a piston/spark plug which will require a $5100.00 repair including replacing all piston rings, timing belt, and spark plugs. My extended warranty expired November 2021.
