Odyssey LX 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 84,834 miles

This is the first time I'm having this issue. Never had anything like this with any other cars I have had over last 30 year. Only find out after a google search that this seems quite common with Honda and Honda knew it and almost feel like they're happy to make a fortune from repair such misfire/vcm issue.

This is disgusting, they should cover the cost or extend warranty on engines for all their vehicles with VCM system

Odyssey Special Edition V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 92,366 miles

Our 2016 Honda Odyssey first had symptoms around 50,000 miles we had all plugs changed and we have complained to Honda about a miss in the engine. Honda said was a transmission problem and kept flushing the transmission fluid and we paid all but one time and the last time it happened was 85,000 miles. At 92,366 my car was losing power and shaking didn't think I was going to be able to drive to help and pulled over to auto zone who ran test and showed number 2 plug was fouled out and was very low on oil.

The engine light was blinking, but after oil was put in it light stopped blinking but it stayed on. (We had an oil change just couple months before at Honda). We took in to Honda dealer who ran a diagnostic and showed number 2 plug fouled out and would need a ring job with a timing belt service which would be approximately $4000.00 even though we had the problem before the warranty was up, but was never advised others were having the same problem. Honda is not standing behind their vehicles, and I sure wish we had purchased a Toyota. We did not do the fix only a temporary fix and was told this problem with rings would be back. Anyone out there having same problem? I sure would appreciate any advice on what to do.

Odyssey EX-L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 91,000 miles

I have a 2016 Odyssey. The spark plugs fouled around 85k miles and were replaced by the dealer. I returned to the dealer about 1 month ago at 91k miles, and they explained the piston-rings needed to be replaced. I paid $4k for repairs.

Since then I've spent several hours on the phone with Honda North America but they refused to cover any of the costs despite this being the 4th Honda I've purchased new. You can imagine the financial burden this brings on me and my family. So much for our summer vacation.
