We had 2 Honda Elites prior to the 2019 that we just bought in March 2019. On May 19, we were driving down the highway. We thought we were in a car crash only to find out that the loud crashing noise came from our audio system which included the navigation and the backup screen capability. It all just disappeared. From then on, for a while, it would come on some of the time, maybe 50% and then go off the rest of the time. We had it checked out by one dealer that couldn't find anything wrong, so for the last 2 months, they've been telling us to be patient and wait for Honda to come up with a software update. Every time the system goes off, there's a large crackling sound that almost sounds like the windshield is cracking. I talked with a second dealer and they also think it's a software issue. We have used up almost 4,000 miles of our Warranty waiting for Honda, whom we have heard nothing from.
When we talked to the dealers, it's like a recording, "Honda knows about it and they are working on a solution" but no one gives us any timeline! It's costing us a lot, because our closest dealer that we prefer to work with is 120 miles away. So between travel costs, the cost of using up minutes on our cellphone for GPS which we are unable to use from the car, because currently it is not working at all, and the danger of trying to back out of our garage with the danger of 2 retainer walls or in busy parking lots. We bought the car BECAUSE of these features (GPS, radio and backup screen)!! Not to mention our free trial time of Sirius XM! So far, we've had use of them less than one third of the time since we've owned the car and still no fix.
