I am filing this complaint to report a recurring and costly defect involving the starter system in my Honda Odyssey. The vehicle has been experiencing starter failures every few months, requiring repeated repairs and part replacements. Each time the starter fails, I am left stranded without warning, creating a serious safety hazard, especially when the failure occurs in public areas, on road shoulders, or during emergencies. The defect has caused extreme inconvenience, financial strain, and raised serious concerns about the reliability and safety of this vehicle. Given the frequency and cost of the problem, I believe this constitutes a systemic defect that should be investigated for a potential recall or manufacturer responsibility. I urge the NHTSA to thoroughly investigate this matter to determine whether this ongoing issue with the starter poses a broader public safety concern and qualifies for regulatory or enforcement action.

Shortly after owning we started noticing sporadic jerks between 24-29 mph that felt like a hard up shift. We immediately brought to our local Honda dealership where they performed a software update. We were told that the vehicle struggles to shift while under load. Recently our van was making a whining noise and seemed hard/delay to accelerate in drive as well as reverse. Almost felt like I was in neutral, but was not. NO warning lights were on, but something was not right so I went home. The next day it would not start and lit up every warning light. We had it towed to the dealership and was told battery was shot so they replaced. On way home it was still hard to accelerate so we brought it right back to the dealership and have been told a new transmission is needed. We have had all maintenance done at dealership prior to this. In fact, the vehicle was just in 3 weeks ago for an oil change and everything looked great. These issues have occurred without any warning lights or diagnostic alerts, making them unpredictable and dangerous. A transmission should not fail without any particular warning to the driver. It seems these transmissions have had a defect from the date of manufacturer that cause malfunctions, premature failing, costly repairs, and most important major safety concerns. Honda needs to be held accountable.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the low oil pressure warning light and several other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that messages indicating Emissions, Lane Assist failures, and other unknown messages were displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the contact was informed that the vehicle had passed inspection, and the failure could be a computer software failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V439000 (Back Over Prevention, Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included. Additionally, the contact stated that the passenger's side and driver's side sliding doors had failed to open and close as intended while engaging the automatic power door switch. The contact stated that the sliding doors were able to close manually for a while. The contact stated that upon closing the sliding doors manually, a chime indicating that the sliding doors were not closed securely was sounded. The contact stated that the passenger's side sliding door was half-opened and half-closed. The contact stated that the driver's side sliding door had failed to close and to latch as intended. The contact stated that one of the interior sliding door panels had fallen while driving. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V437000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages); however, the VIN was not included. Water intrusion from driver side roof rack seal caused water entering the vehicle. Trunk underneath carpet wet. Power Tailgate stopped working and it was identified that the ECU (control unit) part number 74970-THR-A12 located behind the rear driver side trunk trim got water into it and corroded. Need to be replaced. Roof need to be re sealed. Further damage/corrosion from water which already was entering the vehicle unknown at this point.

I am reporting a serious safety concern regarding my 2019 Honda Odyssey, which poses a risk to me and my family. The issue is intermittent, making it difficult for the dealership to replicate. The problem began when the Collision Mitigation System warning light flashed, indicating a system malfunction. This was followed by multiple warning lights appearing on the dashboard. At times, the entire dashboard and screen go blank, and all gauges shut off while I am driving on both city streets and highways-though the engine remains on. Additionally, I have experienced the following issues: The steering wheel stiffness when making turns, the vehicle hesitates to accelerate after being at a stop. In December 2023, I took the vehicle to a Honda Dealership, where they recommended replacing the front camera/sensor (behind the rear mirror) at a cost of over $1,500. I proceeded with the repair in December 2023. However, the same issues returned in January 2025. This defect poses a severe safety risk, especially when driving at higher speeds or in traffic. Since the dealership has been unable to diagnose the issue due to its sporadic nature, I am requesting an investigation into this matter to determine if other owners are experiencing similar safety risks. Thank you for your time and attention to this issue.

Water was leaking inside of the back driver side corner of the tailgate. The water built up inside of the PTG module and ruined it. The tailgate lock suddenly failed and opened up while driving down the road. The warning lamp illuminated that said tailgate error. No wreck just a sudden fail. i have video of the module pouring water out of it as i removed it from the vehicle.

The camera sensor in my 2019 Honda Odyssey EX-L failed due to excessive overheating. The sensor reached extreme temperatures, leading to a complete system failure. As a result, the vehicle became inoperable. The failed component is no longer available for inspection as I was forced to purchase a replacement due to the vehicle-??s dependency on it for proper function. The failure of the camera sensor created multiple dangerous situations: Loss of vehicle control: The vehicle lost acceleration functionality and automatically shut itself down, which could have led to a crash in traffic.Dashboard warning lights: All dashboard lights illuminated simultaneously, indicating a severe system failure. Fire hazard: The sensor was emitting extreme heat, creating a potential fire risk due to overheating electronics. Exposure to the elements: The sensor-??s placement in direct sunlight likely contributed to its overheating, further increasing the risk of failure. Mandatory dependency on the sensor: The vehicle was rendered inoperable without the functioning sensor, leaving me without a safe means of transportation. A Honda dealership inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the sensor had failed due to overheating. However, they stated that the cost of replacement, installation, and recalibration would be my financial responsibility. The issue was evaluated by a Honda dealership, but no manufacturer action was taken to address the failure beyond suggesting an expensive repair. All dashboard warning lights illuminated simultaneously. Loss of acceleration control occurred before the vehicle shut down automatically. The sensor was emitting extreme heat prior to the failure. The issue persisted after restarting the vehicle-?"after a 10-minute cooldown, the vehicle restarted but failed again after 3-5 minutes. This malfunction was not only a significant inconvenience but a major safety hazard. The sensor-??s location makes it highly susceptible to overheating.

Several warning lights turned on. Emissions system problem, transmission system problem, brake system problem, brake hold system problem, power steering system (EPS) problem, vehicle stability assist (VSA) problem, hill start assist problem, road departure mitigation system problem, blind spot info system problem. Steering becomes really difficult, reverse and forward gives out and really hard to control vehicle. Not able to accelerate. This problem happened out of nowhere no issues prior to the lights coming on. This has been happening for the past 8 months i have to unplug the battery so the codes erase and the car starts driving normal then 2 days later they come back and car wont accelerate or would have hard time picking up speed I researched and other owners of similar vehicles have the same issues as mines.

When starting my van, I got warnings for ACC, Lane Departure, and Collision Mitigation stating that the issues were broken. I received error code U3000-49 at the Honda repair dealer which stated the multipurpose camera no longer works. In doing my research, it appears this is a known issue that Honda is not taking responsibility for and charging $1,500 to $2,000 to repair. They state the car works fine other than having none of those safety features working.

A number of warnings popped up: adaptive cruise control problem, lane keeping assist problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation problem, and auto high beam problem. Only light that is on is my brake system light. I read a bit on some forums and it is likely to be the the front camera. Apparently the Multipurpose Camera Unit (MCU) fails often on these vehicles, causing these errors and the cruise control to stop working.

I have had a recurring problem for years that the dealership has been unable to resolve. Occasionally while we are at a stop, and the engine auto off system kicks in, and then I tried to go again, the car stalls completely. Battery tests fine. It does not restart until sometimes after I open and close my driver side door a couple of times which I assume reboots the electrical system in some manner. The car then starts up again and is okay. This is extremely dangerous as it happens in the middle of driving down the road, and the dealership has been unable to identify a solution or what the real problem is.

The automatic engine start stop when at a stop while driving creates dangerous conditions. The engine stalls during the re-start and it seems to pull the voltage all the way down to where every controller is dead and restarting. Cycling ignition switch while cluster is black or restarting or throwing up bunches of fault messages as traffic is now moving and you are still stopped. Sometimes this re-boot process can take around 30 seconds (guessing, I'm freaking out during those moments so time is tough but it feels like a LONG time). I have not had an accident yet but definitely some very scary moments with wife and kids in the vehicle. This auto stop feature can be disabled but requires you hit the button with each ignition cycle and I don't always remember to do that. The Honda Odyssey currently has 80,000 miles on it, we bought it new in 2019 and this has been happening since it was new. We have had this reviewed at two different dealerships; there seems to be a dismissive attitude by the service departments. They have replaced batteries and there was a software update in early 2024 but this issue is definitely still present.

I have had the trunk struts and power module replaced twice due to water leaks into the compute module of my trunk. It has cost me headaches and thousand of dollars to have it fixed. This issue should be recalled to fix and for a reseal of the trunk. My dash has a power lift gate error show up and will not open anymore. Also it will not stay open as well and slowly just close itself.

All the controls in my Van (cruise control, lane assist, auto break etc...) stopped working. I took the van multiple times and the reason they gave is its possible that the Camera stopped working. I replaced the front windshield with OEM through Insurance. I have a feeling this happened only after the repair. The issue goes away for some reason while driving and comes back again. So its not due to any Camera failures. This seems to be a problem for many Honda Odyssey
