While we were driving home from work at highway speeds with nobody in front or around us, we heard a loud pop and heard what sound like glass pelting off of the roof of the vehicle. We then look in the rear view mirror and see it flying from the car. We pull over to the side of the road and realize that our sunroof had exploded. After doing some research we found out that we were not the only ones that this has happened to.

After all the work done on my car including the key fobs I-€™m still having issues that the dealer said were fixed. The first image happened 10.15.22 two days after getting the keys reset on 10.13.22 (not the first time it ever happened it started in 2020 after I got a brand new 2019 Passport) and it-€™s happened several more times thereafter -€œ Keyless Remote Not Detected Press-€ aka my key fob is considered not remotely close to my car when in fact it-€™s right there. The last photo is from 10.30.22 now, this one scared me because I tried to start my car twice and nothing happened. No juice! No inside/outside car lights! No dashboard action! The 3rd attempt produced the message about placing the key to the start button and it worked. I don-€™t know what-€™s going on but this car has the worst electrical system than any car I-€™ve had. What am I supposed to do if the car does not start since it-€™s keyless and placing it by the start button doesn-€™t work? I-€™ve emailed the dealer on 10/30/22 no reply there are no recalls but we all know that can take some time just like when I had radio issues that couldn-€™t be recreated when I had my car serviced Honda wrote me off and no fix. Then time passed and the recall was issued and owners were given the option to select -€œI-€™m Sorry Consolation-€ things either refunds for repairs with proof, free XM satellite radio or HondaLink service. I-€™ve added 2 additional photos with my key fob in my hand yet, the car dash is basically saying it-€™s not close.

I bought the car at 49,000 miles, 7 months ago. Intermittently, when the auto engine idle stop engages, the car will not restart and leaves me stuck in traffic, trying to restart it. It normally takes a couple of minutes to get it started, leaving me vulnerable to oncoming cars.

My 2019 Honda Passport has the fuel-saving stop-start system. At least once a day while driving, my engine will not restart on its own from a complete stop at a traffic light or intersection. While I am waiting at the intersection, the engine cuts off and shifts to neutral and will not shift back to drive when I release the brake. It usually takes a couple of times to try to restart the car before it can be put into drive. This situation has been going on for approximately one year and there are no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.

Auto Engine Idle has an inconsistent issue with not restarting. When at a full stop, the engine goes to neutral and does not restart. This has left me temporarily stranded while I attempt a full restart. The dealer claims to not being able to duplicate the issue. The battery has consistently tested fine. I now manually shut off this option before driving.

The issue is with Honda's idle stop feature. Several times I have been stopped at a stop light and once I try to accelerate, the engine has turned completely off and the gear has shifted to neutral. I then have to put the vehicle back in Park and restart the engine. Fortunately I have not been rear-ended yet but that is inevitable. Honda claims they cannot replicate the issue but it has happened to me on many occasions.

I stopped at red-light and the auto stop idle was engaged. Once the light changed, and I removed my foot from the brake to disengage the auto idle, unexpectedly the gear just shifted to Neutral. I then had put it in park, and press the ignition start button. It took a couple times before restarting. I had to endure other drivers honking and yelling at me, because I was the 1st car at the stop light. This has happened at least 8-10 times in the past 4 months. After having my vehicle for 3 days, the dealer said they couldn't find the problem. Wih road rage what it is in these times, something like that could spark alot of frustration in other drivers. I have read blogs about other honda passport owners having the same issue. HONDA REALLY NEEDS TO FIND OUT WHAT THE ISSUE IS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INTO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE!

While driving on I-65 N 10 miles outside of Nashville, TN my sun roof exploded. We did not experience any object hitting the car nor had we passed under an overpass for an object to be thrown at the car. The explosion was frightening as it was a loud unexpected noise. The pieces flew off and hit the car behind me cracking it's windshield. I've report this issue to Honda but have not heard from them.

Sun roof spontaneously exploded on highway with no other vehicles in area, nor anything overhead, nor any road debris. Prior to explosion, my vehicle had been garaged and never hit with debris of any kind. When incident occurred I was driving up ramp to highway speed (60mph) first there was a loud pop, then a very loud explosion about 200-300 yards later. I looked to see if anyone was around me (or anything over me) it sounded like someone was shooting at my car. Shortly after the loud explosion I could hear glass fragments raining down inside my sun shield (thankfully closed) or I would have been covered in shattered glass while driving highway speeds. Glass fragments skittered over my roof and shook above my head until I was able to exit roadway and make a complete stop. I climbed onto my running board and saw diagonal stress fractures from corner to corner. I drove straight to dealership since it was a slightly overcast day and I was concerned about rain. I took another picture of the shattered sunroof at the dealership: The glass is broken out in the shape of an hourglass. Dealer told me repair was not under warranty. I called american Honda and they claimed they'd never heard of such a thing and refused to cover damage and told me to have repair done by my insurance company. Fortunately, my dealer ultimately took responsibility for Honda's shortcomings and repaired at no cost. I am afraid to ever drive vehicle with sunshade open for fear this will happen again. I am lucky I did not crash on highway and would have if shade had been open.

This problem has occurred ever since we bought the Passport in may of 2020 it is an ongoing problem and has occurred many times. Occasionally, while in motion and driving 45-60 mph on a two lane road, particularly on a curve to the right (has occurred on straight stretches too) the anti-collision brake system will apply the brakes as a warning. The speedometer lights up orange with large letters twice in a row (brake! brake!). at this time I can feel the brakes applied lightly and the dealers service writer has confirmed that the brake lights also activate. This happens very frequently in my vehicle (and according to many on the Passport owners forums it is a common problem). With me it will happen at least once every 75-100 miles or more frequently. On a trip in July of about 5000 miles, this occurred over a hundred times. I have only seen this system operate correctly twice, with cars in front of me.....the other times the car is in the oncoming lane. Once, a car passed me on an interstate (me in right lane, he in left, same direction) and when he was about 20 feet ahead of me the warning activated. I have had the car in twice mentioning this problem and the technician has not been able to re-create the problem on their short test drive. The customer service at Honda usa suggested they check the aiming of the windshield camera and the front emblem radar. I asked them to check these the second time I had it in they said these both were aimed properly and there was nothing else they can do about it. They tell me I can disable this at the start of every trip but if I forget to do that and happen to have this occur on an icy road in winter, it's not safe. The car has been in twice for three recalls already and they have not been able to see or fix this problem. And it activated again on the way home after my last recall appointment so it is still a problem.

Sunroof spontaneously exploded without cause. Nothing hit my car and no other vehicles were nearby, nor was vehicle hit with any flying debris while driving up a highway entrance ramp, with my speed increasing from 45-55mph. I heard wind noise and thought passenger window might be down slightly so I opened window about 2 inches and closed, then immediately after I heard a loud crashing crack noise and approximately 2-3 second later a very loud explosion noise and glass debris flew off the back of my vehicle. I exited highway and pulled over and noted huge dimple and approx 1 foot hole in glass and complete cracking and glass fragments on sliding interior cover. The car has only 4500 miles and is stored in a secure garage. It had been out in the sun for less than 10 minutes and the ambient temperature at the time was 68 and sunny. I called to report to my insurance but then a friend checked internet and told me I should call my dealer. I did and they had me bring vehicle there and told me they had never heard of that happening before. I find this surprising since there are literally hundreds of issues reported online.

The Honda sensing system almost constantly thinks there is a vehicle coming at you when there isn't one coming at you. It will shake the steering wheel and flash the orange brake warning at you. The infotainment system also stops working almost every drive as well and says there is no input for audio.

When using the audio system (appleairplay, bluetooth, sirius or fm radio), the speakers at some point will begin crackling and making popping noises, similar to static noises, which causes the music to interrupt and cut out. Even when you turn the audio off, the speakers continue to make the crackle and pop sounds. You have to turn the car off and open the door to completely cut off the audio. It happens randomly and is a complete distraction while driving. The display screen also cuts in and out while in use using the backup camera, music or google maps, etc. As well. The car can be in motion or parked, it happens. This started in Feb 2020, 1 month after leasing the car and approx 1000 miles.

Was driving 70mph on the freeway using adaptive cruise control (acc). No cars ahead of me, several behind. The car icon on my dash (lights up while using acc) began flashing then my Passport (on it's own) slammed on the breaks, forcing my daughter and I into our seatbelts hard, and forced the cars behind to slam on their breaks. The break warning that usually flashes on the dash when there's a reason to break didn't happen. It was a close call but everyone avoided a collision. Immediately took to dealership. They said they'd never heard of that happening but I googled it and the issue pops up several times in online forums and there's a class action lawsuit from 2017 CR-V's from problems with the acc. Waiting to hear what dealership says, but the guy said they'd just take it for a few test drives and see if it happens again. Absolutely do not feel safe driving vehicle now!

The automatic power lift gate can not be stopped when in the process of closing. The lift gate almost closed on my child's arm. My child reached back into the cargo area to get something out after I had already pressed the power lift gate button in order to close it. When I realized my child's arm was in the cargo area, I attempted to use my hands to push the lift gate back open and it would not stop. Fortunately, my child got was able to get her arm out fast enough so she wasn't injured. The lift gate should not continue to close once it encounters resistance.
