As the contact continued to drive, the squeaking noise turned into a rattling noise as several warning messages then appeared on the instrument panel. The contact initially pulled over to call for assistance but managed to reach their destination despite the failure. The next day, the vehicle was taken to a dealer where a diagnostic was performed, and the vehicle was then diagnosed with engine failure. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The manufacturer was notified about the recall and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The vehicle had yet to be repaired.
