  • 5,500 miles
The contact owned a 2021 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while her friend was driving at an undisclosed speed, with the brake pedal depressed all the way to the floorboard, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. As a result, the vehicle left the roadway, hitting a stop sign before coming to a complete stop after colliding with a concrete wall. The driver and passenger side air bags did deploy. A police report was filed, and injuries were reported. The vehicle occupants transported themselves to an area hospital for treatment. The driver was treated for a head contusion and pain in her legs and lower back; the contact was treated for chest pain. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard, pending inspection. After investigating the failure, the contact related it to NHTSA Campaign Number?23V458000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulics), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 5,500.
