problem #2

Ridgeline RT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 64,000 miles

Over the last 6 months, I have had some intermittent problems with the A/C blower motor not working, when taking this to the Honda dealer, I received a call that indicated that there was no problem found. Upon arrival the blower motor was operating correctly again. A few months go by, and once again the blower motor stops operating. Trouble shooting this issue on my own for fear that the problem would "go away" again, I found that by removing the blower motor connector and measuring the 12v pin (White wire/Blue strip) to ground I found that there was only 6.7 volts supplied to the motor. Tracing this wire back to the center console where a cable connector is located, I found that the White/blue wire on the connector was turning brown, indicating a heat issue due to high resistance. This connector must need a special tool to open, as it is virtually impossible to separate. I then pushed the pins in from both sides and used some deoxit cleaner to clean the contacts. This adjustment solved the problem, as the voltage at the blower motor is now in the correct range of 12.4 v. and the blower will operate properly. As others have stated, that this type of problem resulted in a recall on the 2006, 2007 models, and evidently a similar issue may still exist in the 2008 models. Over time the connector builds up resistance and can cause a fire in worst case scenario. I agree with others that this should be looked into and corrected as part of a safety recall.

Ridgeline 6cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 35,000 miles

I was trying to avoid what I thought would be about a two hundred dollar fix so I put off the repair. Now I learn that it may be the entire electrical panel that needs to be replaced *((over $1000.00) and NOW, I'm at 39000 miles just out of the warranty mileage though below the three years.

Anybody have a similar situation or suggestion?

Sure would appreciate it as I'm out of work....
