Ridgeline LTD 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 15 miles

When I took delivery of my Ridgeline new in Sept. 2014 as I was leaving, the salesman pointed out the headliner was hanging down at the rear by the rear window. As I had to leave to ship to Hawaii he said he would forward info to Windward Honda in Hawaii and I should register with them to have repaired under warranty.

I did so and after about 3 months a new headliner came in and I had to drop off for a full day for install. About 10 months later I heard a rattle and was surprised to see it had dropped again in exactly the same way. Again I took it in and they ordered another (after the manager accused me of mishandling the vehicle by parking in the sun!) Again after 3 months it came and I dropped off for a full day again and the new one was installed. Unbelievably, after around 8 months I again heard a rattle and it had dropped again in exactly the same spot. I couldn’t get in soon enough and now the vehicle is off warranty by 2 months!

After all that I found a service bulletin that addressed this exact issue for the 2009-10 year. It’s Honda service bulletin 10-035. Going back in tomorrow to continue the fight.

Rear of Head liner disengages from ceiling fasteners (defective Liner, must be replaced), flaps in the wind with window open. 3 days to replace, 2X repeat issue. The replacement tears up your whole interior. This is a special edition Ridgeilne! Looking at another 3 days of down time after a 3 week wait for parts. Totally pisses me off after I warned them not to get the replacement from Honda service stock as there was an obvious product defect. Dealer assured me the new one would be perfect. I requested only a certified new headliner......didn't get it. I thinking a new Ford or Chevy truck is the only solution. Plus I'm in live for an airbag change out. I am nearly fed up with Honda. I know the game, I am an automotive professional. This is when the customer goes somewhere else.......
